Adrian Petersen falls nine yards short but Vikings still make playoffs

Adrian Petersen needed 208 rushing yards to break the single season rushing record, he had 199 yards, a mere 9 yards short.  He did however, help lead Minnesota into the playoffs with a 37 – 34 victory over Green Bay, courtesy of a Blair Walsh field goal as time ran out.  Congrats to AP and the Vikings.  They will play Green Bay again next week in the wild card game.

Peyton Manning did in fact play today, and play he did, with 304 passing yards and 3 TD passes.  The Broncos beat Kansas City 38 – 3 and head to the post season as the number 1 seed in the AFC!  Way to go Peyton!!

In other action, New England blanked Miami, 29 – 0.  San Francisco defeated Arizona, 27 – 13 and clinched the division title.  Seattle beat St. Louis, 20 – 13 and is the only unbeaten team at home in the NFL (as the Falcons lost to the Bucs today).  Seattle will make the playoffs as a wild card team.

In a game that doesn’t matter as far as the post season, San Diego defeated Oakland 24 – 21.
