No Americans left in French Open

No Americans are left in the draw at the French Open after today’s action.  The last remaining one, Sloane Stephens fell to #4 S. Halep in two sets.  Halep looks like the only remaining obstacle to Sharapova on the women’s side…but one can never tell.  This has been a very strange French Open, especially on the women’s side!  Also advancing today, A. Petkovic in three sets (yes, so happy to see her back healthy and playing well); Kuznetsova in two sets (she has a French Open title on her resume); and S. Errani in two sets.

On the men’s side…no real surprises.  Andy Murray returned to the court after his marathon match with Kolshreiber to defeat Verdasco in three sets.  Nadal took out some guy (Lajovic) in three easy sets and fellow Spaniard Ferrer advanced in four sets over Kevin Anderson.  Nadal and Ferrer will meet in the quarterfinals.  Finally, Frenchman G. Monfils won in three sets over Garcia-Lopez so we still have some entertainment left in the men’s draw!  Love him!

Even the world #1 ranked doubles team of the Bryan Brothers lost today!

Still missing Roger Federer…until Wimbledon!! (Ha Ha)  Later…#FedisOK!
