And the Oscar goes to…

The Academy Awards came to us live last night in all their glory.  Have to say, a very tame Seth MacFarlane hosted, not too many zingers like I was expecting.  As far as the winners, no huge surprises there.  Best Picture – Argo (well deserved) and Ben Affleck was visibly moved when accepting.  Best Actress – Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook –  she looked beautiful and nervous and when she tripped up the stairs, it just made her all the more real.  Best Actor – Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln, he was brilliant in his acceptance.  Face it, if he is nominated, he is going to win; he is in a class by himself.  With last night’s award, he became the only lead actor to win an Oscar three times.  Congrats to him!!  Best Supporting Actress went to Anne Hathaway for Les Miserables (very deserving) and Best Supporting Actor went to Christoph Waltz, Django Unchained, again, well deserved recognition.  Best Director (the category where the Academy did not get it right when they failed to nominate Ben Affleck) went to Ang Lee for Life of Pi.  Take nothing away from Ang Lee,he is a brilliant director, this was his second Oscar win (he previously won for Brokeback Mountain)Life of Pi was one of the night’s big winners with several awards.  Best Adapted Screenplay went to Argo and Best Original Screenplay went to Quentin Tarantino for Django Unchained.  Adele took home the Oscar for her original song for Skyfall.

Now let’s talk fashion:  My favorites were Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, and Jessica Chastain.  All just gorgeous.  Coming in a close second would be Halle Berry and Nicole Kidman.  Best looking couple goes to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.

We don’t do worst dressed here, turn into the entertainment shows for that dubious honor.  All in all, a nice show, but very long as always!  Here’s to hoping we have as many good movies and performances to choose from next year as we did this year.  Really an outstanding year!
