Bubba Watson gets it done…2nd Masters win in three years!

Way to go Bubba!  Ger her done, get her done!  Bubba Watson wins his second Masters in three years with a score of -8.  He is a lefty, has an unorthodox swing, and drives a Dukes of Hazzard car.  And, he is one of the greatest golfers in the world, a free spirit, and now a two time winner of the Masters.  Not since Arnold Palmer has a player won the right to wear the green jackets twice in his first six starts!  Well done Mr. Watson!  The wonder-kid from Dallas, Texas, Jordan Spieth, playing along side Bubba faltered on the back nine, but came in second at -5 along with Jonas Blixt ( a Swede).  Both Spieth and Blixt were playing in their first Masters.  M. Jimenez finished in fourth at -4 and Matt Kuchar and Rickie Fowler (minus his long flowing locks) finished tied at -2.  Lee Westwood was at -1, the only other player to finish the tournament this year under par.  Last year’s winner, Adam Scott, presenting the green jacket to Bubba finished at +1.  Rory Mcilroy was really not a factor and finished at even par.  What a strange Masters in some respects.  The weather was glorious, the greens were lightening fast, and Mickelson missed the cut and Tiger wasn’t even able to play.  Still,  what a great performance by Bubba Watson.  Two year old son, Caleb was there to greet him along with his wife. and an always emotional Bubba hugged them and carried his son off the course where his two buddies Fowler and Kuchar stood ready to congratulate him!  Great finish and the 2014 Masters is in the books.  By the way, that old guy, Freddie Couples, finished at +2.

Now, we (or at least I) can turn our attention back to tennis.  The Monte Carlo Masters 1000 event gets underway tomorrow.  #1 Rafael Nadal will be going for a record setting ninth title at this event.  #2 Novak Djokovic will be attempting to win his fifth straight Masters 1000 event (since late 2013).  And the great Swiss man, Roger Federer, has taken a wildcard entry into this tournament (he has not played here since 2011) and having quietly climbed back to #4, will look to cement his return to the pinnacle of the sport.  The other guy from Switzerland, currently ranked #3, Stan Wawrinka will also be there, looking to regain his form after faltering a bit after his stunning win down under to claim his first Grand Slam title.  He and Roger and still so excited, they just can’t stand it after the Swiss come from behind victory in Davis Cup action in Geneva.  Roger trails Stan by a mere 525 points in the rankings.   Can he climb to number 3 with this event??  Let’s hope so.  Looking forward to watching this first clay court event with the current “big three” in action, Wawrinka knocking on the door. Andy Murray (considered to be the other member of the notorious “big four”) is not participating.  Murray has fallen to #8 in the world rankings at this time.

Turning to pop culture, Californication fans rejoice!  The final season begins tonight!  9:30 pm EST on Showtime.  Don’t expect a happily ever after for Hank and Karen in tonight’s episode!  But, we shall look forward to watching how they wind this very entertaining show down to it’s conclusion.  Not for the faint of heart, especially when it comes to well you know, people keeping their clothes on!  Also tonight, The Good Wife returns with a new episode.  I want Will Gardner back!  He is, of course, not coming back but I feel sure his untimely death is going to play a pivotal role in how the rest of this season unfolds!

Until later..enjoy your evening!
