Down came the rain, but Federer not washed out!

Down came the rain in NYC this afternoon but Roger Federer was not washed out!  TGIF!  Federer came out and Granollers took it to him in the first set. and the rain came with Fed trailing 2-5.  The skies cleared and they came back and Fed dropped the first set 4-6 but from that point on…all Mr. Federer and his magical game, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1.  Vintage Federer!  And it was very humid in NYC ( windy, then hot and humid, than rain, then humid) and in the post-match interview, Roger was actually sweating!  Hey, he is human after all!

For me, a great day of tennis.  Caroline Wozniacki wins over Maria Sharapova, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2!  What a great win for Caro…and so well deserved.  This is Wozniacki’s first appearance in the quarterfinals of a Major since 2012.  Very happy for her!  Then Federer prevails inspite of a sloppy start and a rain delay and so all in all…could not be happier!

G. Simone took out the #4 seed David Ferrer, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 and Thomas Berdych advanced in three sets.  M. Cilic advanced over Kevin Anderson in four sets earlier today as well.  Matches have been “relocated” due to the rain delay so the action continues tonight.  The important thing…Roger Federer is through to the fourth round in this, his 60th consecutive Grand Slam.  Looking really good for Mr. Federer right now!

Tomorrow, Andy Murray vs. J. Tsonga, Serena Williams vs. Kanepi and N. Djokovic vs. Phillip Kolschreiber.
