Catching up with the “tourney”

NCAA March Madness is in full swing.  Let’s see where we are…last #1 seed, Kansas survived an upset bid by Western Kentucky last night and prevailed, 64 – 57.  All four #1 seeds make it through the first test.  Note: In twenty nine years, a #1 seed has never fallen to a 16 seed in the first round.  8 UNC won over 9 Villanova, 78 – 71.  The Tar Heels will take on #1 seed Kansas Sunday at 5:15 pm EST.  Another #1 seed, Indiana (my pick to win it all) will also be in action on Sunday against Temple.

Big day for the two teams from Michigan.  4 Michigan takes care of 5 VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) today, 78 – 53.  3 Michigan State (could be a real sleeper to make it through) prevails over 6 Memphis, 70 – 48.

How is your bracket looking?  Mine is doing pretty well, better than last year.  Still looking for that Cinderella team, will it be the brainiacs, Harvard, or perhaps the giant slayers, Southwest Florida College from Ft. Myers (taking out Georgetown)?  Not looking too good for Harvard as they are down to 6 Arizona 40 – 26 at the half.  Stay tuned…the action continues.

Update: Harvard’s bubble has burst as they fall to Arizona, 74 – 51.
