ABC has rolled out yet another hit! They are airing a new cop drama that had the highest rated TV series premiere in Canada last season, Motive. They purchased the series outright and are running it in the Thursday evening 9:00 pm EST time slot usually held by Grey’s Anatomy (currently concluded its 2012-13 season). They also reran it Sunday evening at 9:00 pm so I do not know for sure when this show is going to air but the next show was advertised as being on this Thursday evening.
It follows the pattern of some other crime shows, Law and Order for one, and the murderer and victim are revealed at the beginning of the episode. The rest of the show focuses on unraveling the circumstances. The lead role is detective, Angie Freeman, played by Kristin Lehman. She is a single mom of a teenage boy (bless her!) and she is smart, sassy and absolutely cool. Love her character. Her partner is Oscar Vega and is played by Louis Ferreira. They make a great team, witty repartee but I do not see sparks flying as far as a romance is concerned. Lauren Holly plays medical examiner, Betty Rogers.
This show is must see TV and I hope ABC continues with it!
