Djokovic lifts the trophy down under

1 Djokovic has won the Australian Open Championship for the third consecutive year, the first man in the open era to achieve this feat.  He defeated 3 Andy Murray, 6 – 7, 7 – 6, 6 – 3, 6- 2.  The first two sets were extremely tight, neither could convert what few break opportunities they were able to create.  Djoker looked very frustrated in the first set tie breaker (which he lost) and Murray appeared to grow more and more frustrated in the second set, especially after dropping the tie breaker in that set.  Funny how people comment on Federer “losing his cool” in the five set loss to Murray, but have you ever watched Murray and read his lips throughout a match.  Not the stuff you want your children to hear.  Anyhow, back to the title match…Murray called for the trainer after the second set, some sort of issue with his right foot.  From that point, Djokovic took control and went on to win the next two sets 6 – 3 and 6 – 2. Mercifully, Djokovic did not repeat the shirt ripping, chest pounding celebration, just a cute little dance.   Really looking forward to the next tournament (likely to be a Masters 1000 event) in which all of the big four are back together, 1Djokovic, 2 Federer, 3 Murray and 4 Nadal.  Will be interesting to see how the dynamics play out when Nadal returns, and how healthy he is.  Congrats to Novak, quite an achievement, three peat!
