Eli and the NY Giants will be staying home

The reigning Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and their QB Eli Manning (the one with the great hair) will be watching post season play at home.  The Giants were all over Philadelphia and Michael Vick today with a 42 – 7 victory.  Eli had 208 yards passing and 5 passing TD’s.  However, too little, too late.  With the Bears win over Detroit, 26 – 24, the Giants were eliminated.  Speaking of Detroit, Megatron had 72  receiving yards and thus fell short of the 2000 yard reception yard mark.  Still, he did break the record held by Jerry Rice last week against the Falcons.  The Lions have work to do in the off season, but Megatron (Calvin Johnson) is not the problem!

Elsewhere, disappointing day in the ATL.  The Falcons fell to Tampa Bay, 22 – 17.  Matt Ryan and cast played the whole game and looked better in the second half but still came up short.  Falcons have already clinched the Division title, # 1 seed in the NFC and home field advantage.  Still, hate to lose to the Bucs!  Yuk!  Also of note, John Abraham suffered an ankle injury and Dante Robinson went out with an injury as well.  Falcons need them both when playoffs begin.

Cincinnati defeated Baltimore, 23 – 14 and will head to the playoffs.  Indy welcomed back head coach Chuck Pagano (after a successful battle with leukemia) and gave him a 28 – 17 victory.  They will head to the post season with him on the sideline!  Meanwhile, Houston could lose home field advantage, depending on outcome of some other games.

In games that really do not matter, Pittsburgh defeated Cleveland 24 – 10 and Carolina outlasted New Orleans, 44 – 38.

Important games late this afternoon, Green Bay trails Minnesota, 10 – 0.  Adrian Petersen has already scored one TD but needs to rush for 208 yards today to break Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record.  Pretty tall order.  Minnesota wins and they are in the playoffs.  Green Bay wins, and they clinch #2 seed in NFC.

Peyton Manning and the Broncos are up 7 – 3 on Kansas City and yes, Peyton is playing.  He has over 113 yard passing in the first half.   New England leads Miami 7 – 0.  Also in action San Francisco vs. Arizona and Seattle and St. Louis.  San Francisco must win to clinch the division title.  If Seattle wins, and the 49ers lose, Seattle wins division.

Important game tonight in nation’s capital as Dallas visits RG III and the Redskins.  Washington win will give them the division title.  They can lose and still get a wild card berth.  Dallas must win or they will stay home.

Lot’s to still play for today in the NFL!

Quick question to ponder?  Who should be comeback player of the year in NFL, Peyton Manning or Adrian Petersen?  Cannot go wrong with either!  I am going to pick Peyton!
