Federer falls to Djokovic in London, dadgumit!

Once again, dadgumit (to quote FSU former head coach Bobby Bowden!),  Roger Federer fell to Novak Djokovic in his first match in the round robin format in London at the ATP Year End Tennis Final, 4 – 6, 7 – 6, 2- 6.  I had such high hope after Fed secured the second set in a tie break!  Anyhow..he will play again on Thursday and hopefully, he can secure two victories since the top two finishers in both the A and B brackets advance.  Rafael Nadal avenged his loss in Paris to countryman David Ferrer with a two set victory, 6 – 3, 6- 2 (more like what we have experienced in this match up) and with one more win, he will secure the #1 ranking for this year.  Djokovic is hoping Nadal falters and he can secure the #1 year end ranking.  All I care about is Roger Federer winning a couple of matches and getting himself ready for 2014!  So there you have it, I am all about Roger Federer!

Last night’s MNF game between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers was a good one with the Bears winning 27 – 20.  Chicago was playing without Jay Cutler, starting QB and Green Bay suffered a huge loss in the first quarter when QB Aaron Rodgers went out with a shoulder injury.  Latest report is that Rodgers suffered a fractured collarbone and will miss at least three weeks.

Moving to College Football, my youngest daughter (FSU grad) and I are in a debate over the BCS rankings.  I think Oregon is being disrespected, in fact I think the Pac 12 in general is being disrespected.  She is of course all about FSU.  Alabama has the toughest schedule, but I no longer buy into the SEC is King philosophy.  I think they play some really good football on the west coast.  We will find out a lot about Oregon on Thursday night when they play at Stanford.  As much as I love Stanford, they are not the team they were last year with Andrew Luck.  Still, FSU has beaten then #3 Clemson and then #7 Miami.  I am not sure about Clemson.  Miami was overrated, as much as I hate to admit it since they embarrassed Georgia Tech.  But that was not the 7th best team in the country.  Perhaps the most underrated team, Baylor.  When we get to a playoff format next year, these issues will maybe resolve themselves.  This year, with Ohio State likely going undefeated, we are probably going to wind up as always with someone on the outside looking in.  The question to be answered in the weeks ahead, who will be on the inside playing for the National Title and who will be left out?

Moving to Pop Culture…anybody else out there watching the new ABC drama Betrayal on Sunday nights at 10:00 pm EST with Stuart Townsend and James Cromwell?  This show is tantalizing and next week it is going to explode!  Going to be interesting to see how this compelling drama unfolds and how long it can hold one’s attention!
