Federer survives tough five set match over Tsonga to advance

2 Roger Federer survived a tough five set match over 7 Tsonga down under, winning 7 – 6, 4 – 6, 7 – 6, 3 – 6, 6 -3.  He will move onto the semifinals to face 3 Andy Murray who easily defeated the unranked Chardy, 6 – 4, 6 – 1, 6 – 2.  Will be interesting to see if this tough three and a half hour match helps or hurts Federer as he moves on.  He will likely have to defeat both Murray, and then 1 Djokovic (who will face Ferrer in the other semifinal) to win the title and take home his 18th Grand Slam trophy.  Here’s to hoping he can get it done.  Still loving those snazzy shoes he is wearing and also Mirka is all smiles in his box, which cannot help but be a good sign!  GO FED!

Update:  Got a chance to see replay of the Fed-Tsonga match.  It was really intense, back and forth, full of drama.  Great, entertaining match.  Federer advances to his 33rd Grand Slam semifinal.  And yes, you guessed it, another record!
