Georgia Tech rolls, S. Carolina upset and down go the dawgs!

What a great Saturday, already!  Georgia Tech rolls over Syracuse in Atlanta, final score 56 – 0.  Almost 400 yards rushing for the Jackets (394 to be exact) and tremendous performance by the defense.  Most complete game by the Jackets all year.  Forced three turnovers, one a blocked punt which led to a TD.  Vad Lee ran for TD and threw a beautiful TD pass to Waller.  Zach Laskey ran for three TD’s and the Jackets did what they are supposed to do, run, control the clock and not make mistakes (did have one turnover, an interception thrown by WR Smelter on “trick play” but it did not hurt them).  No penalties!!  Nice to see the team get well, and hey, looks like the sun is finally coming out!

Meanwhile, down go the Gamecocks!  11 South Carolina falls to Tennessee in Neyland Stadium, 23 – 21.  Has to feel good for the Vols who lost a heartbreaker to UGA a couple of weeks ago in OT.  Speaking of UGA, down go the dawgs!  15 UGA falls at Vanderbilt, 31 – 27.  #6 Carta-Samuels watched from the sideline on crutches as his team pulled off the huge upset.  Aaron Murray could not get it done today, too many mistakes by the dawgs and now 14 Missouri, currently leading 22 Florida, 36 – 17 in the 4th quarter appears to be in the driver’s seat in the SEC east. (Now a final!)

Getting underway now, 24 Auburn at 7 Texas A & M and a game I am really interested in, 13 Stanford hosting 9 UCLA.  Tonight the big one, 5 FSU at 3 Clemson.

Back later….and I am back…what a day for SEC teams; going down, UGA, Texas A & M, South Carolina and Florida.  Winning…Tennessee, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Auburn.  So…already covered the losses by UGA, South Carolina and Florida.  In Aggie land, the faces are not smiling as 24 Auburn comes in and upsets 7 Texas A & M, 45 – 41.  Johnny Manziel had over 350 yards passing but it was not enough.  He was injured near the goal line when he took a hit on his shoulder but would return.  Still, Auburn took the ball down the field for the winning score and Johnny “Football” and his Aggies could not answer as time ran out.  Remember, I have said each week that the Texas A & M porous defense was a problem.  Well, it proved so today, giving up 615 yards to Auburn.  Gee, what a day so far!  One thing for sure, the top ten is going change after this weekend and the first BCS Poll which comes out Sunday night should be interesting!

My team from California (one of my Pac 12 faves) had a great rebound game today after last week’s disappointing loss.  The Cardinals of Stanford, ranked #13 hosted 9 UCLA and took care of business.  They got back to tough Stanford football and won, 24 – 10.  Brett Hundley, QB for UCLA likely lost any shot at Heisman consideration with this loss.  Will he come back for next season, who knows, but today Stanford stretched their muscles and UCLA did not have the answer.  It was a beautiful day in California, blue skies and bright sunshine (gee, how I wish I was there) and Stanford looked like the team that me and Lee Corso predicted would contend for the National Championship.  Will remain to see how badly that loss to Utah last weekend affects them but we all look ahead to the November 7th match up with 2 Oregon.  I am not very worried about my other Pac 12 team, 2 Oregon, as they will take on Washington State tonight (late start, 10:00 pm EST).  I expect the Quack Attack to roll.  4 Ohio State took care of Iowa but not without a battle, close until late in the 4th quarter.  The Buckeyes win 34 – 24 and enjoy the longest active winning streak in college football, nineteen games.

Now, 6 LSU is facing off against Ole Miss (trailing 1o – 0 in the first half!) but the big one is coming up in less than fifteen minutes, 5 FSU vs. 3 Clemson.  A battle between two fop five teams, and more importantly (as a GT fan and thus an ACC fan) two ACC powerhouses.  So, I am going to enjoy watching this game, will keep an eye on LSU and Ole Miss and expect to wake up tomorrow and see that 2 Oregon has taken care of business.

Back with you tomorrow with these last finals…until then…enjoy the rest of the action!

P.S. Game six tonight between Detroit and Boston…Red Sox can advance to the World Series with a win tonight!
