Indy Race Series – day one of the Dual in Detroit

The Izod Indy Race series moves on after last weekend’s prestigious Indy 500 to Detroit, MI.  The dual in Detroit is at Belle Isle and is a road course race (as my Indy insider calls it, a “parade”) that takes place on both Saturday and Sunday.  The first race was run this afternoon at 3:30 EST on ABC and the winner was…Mike Conway of Dale Coyne Race Team.  Last weekend Mike was on his sofa watching the Indy 500 and today he was the winner in the first of two road course races this weekend.  Mike is not planning to return to the oval circuit but is hopeful of competing in some of the future road races.  Coming in second was Ryan Hunter-Reay and in third, also racing for Dale Coyne Race Team was Justin Wilson.  Fourth place went to Scott Dixon, fifth place, Helio Castroneves (the new overall points leader) and in sixth, my guy, Dario Franchitti.

Tomorrow, race number two from Detroit, same time, same place, 3:30 EST ABC.
