The LA Lakers fell to the LA Clippers, 109 – 95 today at the Staples Center. Who was the crowd cheering for? Hard to say but Billy Crystal was in the house and he is a huge Clippers fan. Blake Griffin finished with 24 points and Chris Paul had 23 points as the Clippers swept the series with their LA neighbors for the first time ever. They also clinched the Pacific division of the Western Conference for the first time in franchise history. Oh well, I am a Lakers fan, so this was not a good day for me. Kobe finished with 25 points and had 9 assists in the first half. The Lakers just could not keep up with the fast pace high flying Clippers, especially down the stretch. Lakers fall back into a tie with Utah for the 8th playoff position (Jazz hold the tiebreak, Yikes!) with five games remaining. They are tough games remaining but four out of the five are at home. Looks like this is going down to the wire. Will Kobe and co. make good on that guarantee? I still see the Lakers in the playoffs.
Earlier, Melo finished with 36 points and led the Knicks to their 12th straight win, 125 – 120 over OKC in Oklahoma City. Gee, not much defense in the association, is there?
