LA Lakers (of course minus superstar Kobe Bryant) fell to the San Antonio Spurs in game one of the Western Conference playoffs, 91 – 79. The Lakers played some really good defense, the offense not so good. Really miss Kobe even with Steve Nash back on the floor. Nash showed signs of rust after being out for nine games but came on as the game evolved, finishing with 16 points. Gasol pulled down 16 rebounds and added 16 points while Dwight Howard had 20 points and 15 rebounds. Tim Duncan of the Spurs, one of the classiest guys in the NBA, maybe in all of sports, finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Any questions regarding Ginobili and Parker were answered. They both looked healthy and in fine form, Parker finished with 18 points. Non the less, the game was in San Antonio. The second game will be on Wednesday and the Lakers will be staying in Texas to prepare for game number two. I know people think they can bring out the brooms, four game sweep with Kobe out for the Lakers. Not so fast…the series will return to LA and I do believe the Lakers will win in the Staples Center, at least one game, maybe two. So…stay tuned, this was game one and there will be more. GO LAKERS!
