Latest College Football Polls…and more scores and some pop culture

Well down went the Stanford Cardinals last night to USC, 20 – 17.  Very disappointing to all of us who love the “nerds” from Stanford (but all hail the “nerds” from Duke!).  Stanford had such promise this year only to suffer a bad loss at the hands of underrated Utah and now going down in Pasadena (site of the National Championship title game) to USC.  Thus, Oregon regains control of the Pac 12 North Division.  USC, UCLA, and Arizona State appear to be poised to battle it out for the Pac 12 South Division.  Perhaps the upcoming USC – UCLA game will regain some of the cache it used to have in years past.  As a little girl I always anxiously awaited the college football preview edition of Sports Illustrated, one which usually featured prominently these west coast teams!  Now, inspite of the “dominance” of southern football, they are back!  The Big 10 and the Big 12 are not doing too badly either.  Baylor stomped TTU, 63 – 34 (and made a move in the AP Poll).  1 Alabama beat Miss State in a lackluster performance, 20 – 7 and South Carolina survived a depleted Gator team, defeating Florida, 19 – 14.

Latest polls are out (BCS will make its mark later tonight!)

AP Poll: 1 Alabama (55), 2 FSU (5), 3 Baylor (jumps Ohio State), 4 Ohio State, 5 Oregon (Quack Attack back on track), 6 Auburn (what a game that was with UGA!!!), 7 Clemson, 8 Missouri (still has the SEC East title in their control), 9 Texas A & M, and 10 Stanford.

Coaches Poll: 1 Alabama (56), 2 FSU (6), 3 Ohio State, 4 Baylor, 5 Oregon, 6 Clemson, 7 Auburn, 8 Missouri, 9 Oklahoma State, and 10 Texas A & M.

Oklahoma State is #11 in the AP and South Carolina is #12.  Stanford comes in at #12 in the Coaches Poll while South Carolina is in at #11.

NFL news…Falcons are losing in Tampa, 24 – 3 in the first half…such a letdown for Falcon fans this year.  Peyton Manning, injured ankle and all will welcome the division leading and undefeated Kansas City Chiefs (led by Alex Smith at QB) to Denver tonight on SNF.  Should be a great one!  Go BRONCOS (and Peyton of course!)

NBA news…Kobe Bryant returns to practice with the Lakers for the first time since surgery on his torn achilles.  I am ready to see Kobe play some round ball so here’s to hoping he will be in action soon…what would Christmas Day be like without the Lakers and Kobe?

Have to admit I enjoyed watching The Christmas Ornament on Hallmark Channel starring Kellie Martin and Cameron Mathison.  The first of many Christmas chick flicks to air on Hallmark Channel between now and the New Year.  Hey, I am still a girl and it was a feel good movie!!

Tonight on network TV, new drama by J J Abrams (Alias fame), Almost Human, which will bring Minka Kelly back (you all remember Lyla Garrity of FNL fame!!)  Looks like a great new show even though I am not usually a fan of futuristic dramas.  It will air in two parts, tonight and Monday night at 8:00 pm on FOX.  Also tonight, The Good Wife on CBS and my new fave…Betrayal on ABC at 10:00 pm EST.

Enjoy your Sunday!
