What a day at The Players Championship in Ponte Vedra, FL. The event suffered a two plus hour rain delay as a storm rolled through. As a result, many of the players in the final pairings did not finish. As of right now. Swedish rookie David Lingmerth sits atop the leaderboard at -12 thru 17 holes. Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia are both at -10 thru 14 and marked their balls on the 15th fairway as play was being called. Henrik Stenson (another Swede) is at -10 as well, thru 16. Jeff Maggert is at -9 (finished) and Casey Wittenberg is also at -9, thru 17. Ryan Palmer joins the -9 club, thru 16 holes. David Lynn is finished at -8 and Hunter Mahan is at -8 thru 17. Mahan had a very eventful day, two double bogeys offset by an eagle and therefore remains in the hunt. Tiger Woods, paired with Sergio Garcia, not the best of buddies, finished up with 12 pars, 1 birdie, and 1 bogey. Reportedly, Garcia is complaining that Tiger distracted him early in the day’s round pulling a club from his bag at an inopportune time. Whatever?
Rory Mcilroy was missing his magic today and is at -5.
