How I Met Your Mother finale, Tiger forced to withdraw from Masters

After nine entertaining (and sometimes would you just get on with it please!) years, the popular CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother answered our question(s) last night with it’s final episode.  Twitter and other social media lit up with a wide variety of reactions…from outrage to praise.  Imagine that…a difference of opinion on an entertainment show!  Well, I found it bittersweet and I DID like the ending.  Spoiler alert for anyone who has not yet seen…Marshall and Lilly have their third child, Marshall not only becomes a judge but also will make a run for Supreme Court judge.  Barney and Robin do marry…and it lasts three years.  Barney later becomes a Dad to a daughter after one of his “epic” flings.  Ted does introduce himself to the girl with the yellow umbrella (who was in the band that played at Robins and Barney’s wedding) and they do marry, seven years later and after two kids.  But tragically she falls ill (not disclosed) and passes away.  Aunt Robin has remained in their lives, Ted’s life and the kid’s lives, and well, as you might expect…the kids finally tell him enough already Dad…it’s time to marry Aunt Robin.  Timing was always off for those two, but you knew they were meant for each other in a special way.  So, unlike many, I say yes, great ending!!

Really glad to see CBS will bring back one of my favorite shows, Unforgettable, with Poppy Montgomery and Dylan Walsh this Friday at 8:00 pm EST.  Carrie Wells never forgets anything, well there is one thing she cannot completely remember.  Also, speaking of meant for each other…

In the world of tennis…the focus turns to David Cup action, most specifically Geneva, Switzerland where the Swiss will take on Kazakhstan with action starting on Friday (indoor hard court).  The Swiss have their best chance in many years to take the Davis Cup this year and world #3 Stan Wawrinka is really wanting it to happen.  He will be joined by that other Swiss guy, Roger Federer, now having continued his move back up the rankings and sitting at #4 just behind Stan.  Let’s go Swiss!!

Finally, no it is not a bad joke, a bad April fools day hoax, Tiger Woods has been forced to withdraw from the Masters which gets underway April 10th.  He underwent minor back surgery on Monday (is any back surgery really ever minor?).  His procedure was to relieve a pinched nerve caused by an extended disc and many athletes have had this exact procedure and returned.  Would expect nothing less from Tiger Woods.  Unfortunately, he will miss the Masters and some other tournaments as well.  The US Open in June will remain a question.  Normal rehab time is anywhere from three to six months.  Really bummed to not see Tiger in Augusta.  Speedy recovery, but take your time, Tiger!  We want him back at full strength…best as he can be for sure!

This weekend, the Final Four convenes in Dallas, at Jerry World.  U Conn vs. Florida and Wisconsin vs. Kentucky.  Picks?  Um..since my brackets is totally busted (except Florida who I did pick to win it all) I am going with Florida and Kentucky (hard to pick against them) and then an all SEC title game with Florida winning!  We shall see..

Until later…
