NBA, Wimbledon and Surviving “Paradise”

Wednesday news…NBA, Wimbledon and of course, Surviving “Paradise” day!  Let’s start with NBA news.  First we have LeBron as a free agent, then Melo, and now Kevin Love will not resign with the Timberwolves.  This is a “no brainer”!  All of them, everyone, go to LA with Kobe and make the Lakers the dream team to end all dream teams!  Make Bryon Scott head coach (he is rumored to be the leading candidate, Kobe likely approves) and what a wonderful world it could be!!  Let’s all go to LA!  I know I want to…anyhow…

Wimbledon action in full swing again today and a couple of “upsets”.  7 David Ferrer goes out in five sets, not a huge upset as grass is not Ferrer’s strong suit.  Victoria Azarenka lost in three sets to a talented young Serbian player but Vika is still working her way back into the swing of things after three months rehabbing her foot injury (in California, no less!).  Andy Murray cruised in three sets, losing a total of two games, Dimitrov won in three sets and will next face Dolgopolov in the third round.  “Dog” won in four sets and served up 42 aces (yes, 42 aces)!  That should be a great third round match.  Djokovic needed four sets to advance, struggling a bit with Stepanek who can be a tricky matchup but he is through and into the third round.  Venus Williams came through today with a two set victory and will face Kvitova (who also advanced) in the third round…two former Wimbledon champs.  Radwanska won easily as did Li Na.  Berdych struggled with Tomic, dropping the first set, winning the second and third set in a tie break and then cruised 6-1 in the fourth set.  Finally, S. Stakhovsky took out E. Gulbis in four sets..why is this significant?  Well, Stakhovsky took out Federer last year at Wimbledon in the second round and Gulbis had the audacity to oust Mr. Federer in the fourth round at this year’s French Open.  So..fortunately, Stakhovsky is not in Roger’s portion of the draw this year.  Tomorrow, Roger and Rafa take the court again.

And last but not least…please check out my book Surviving “Paradise” by Susan Willoch Shaver.  It is a funny and entertaining read…follow a southern woman who relocates to a new town full of great expectations – only to be met by a ridiculous set of people and circumstances.  For more…visit the Home page at this website and the Buy the Book option on the menu bar. (It is available at Amazon.com for $8.99 in paperback and $3.03 in kindle edition!)
