One Swiss guy into the semifinals at ATP year end finals!

One Swiss guy has secured a place in the semifinals at the ATP Year End Finals in London and his name is not Roger Federer, it is Stan Wawrinka.  Wawrinka took out David Ferrer 6 – 7, 6 – 4, 6 – 1.  He then had to await the result of the Berdych – Nadal match.  Should Berdych win, he would advance instead of Wawrinka.  Good news for Stan, Nadal took care of Berdych in three sets, 6 – 4, 1 – 6, 6 – 3.  Hard to explain that second set with Nadal only winning one game.  Anyhow…that means Stan Wawrinka will make the semifinals in his first ever appearance at the year end final event in London.  Great moment for him.  Speaking of that other Swiss guy…the one with 17 Grand Slam titles…Roger Federer, well he needs to defeat J. Martin Del Potro tomorrow to advance as well.  That match will air live on Tennis Channel at 9:00 am EST.  I hope Roger can get it done!!  Whoever wins the match tomorrow will advance into the semifinals to join Nadal, Djokovic and Wawrinka.  Federer defeated Del Potro in Paris last week after falling to him in the final of the Swiss Indoor Tournament the week prior.  Should be a great match and I am really pulling for Roger to find his way through into the final rounds!

Meanwhile, college basketball is happening, the NBA is back (Kobe Bryant has not returned to play yet with the Lakers  although they did defeat Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets last night!), and Tiger Woods is playing golf in Turkey.  He shot a round of 63 yesterday, 9 birdies and no bogeys to finish up at -11, one off the lead.

College football tomorrow, Gameday live from Tuscaloosa.  I am going to be honest, I will be watching the tennis match!  I love my football, but I love Roger Federer more.

Almost forgot, finally watched The Internship on demand the other night!  Funny movie, beautiful scenery in the San Francisco area, and so great to see the hilarity of the Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson pairing.  Nice message in the movie amidst all the humor, don’t give up on your dreams no matter what stage you are at in life, and the importance of teamwork.  Now, if I can get myself to the theater to catch a good movie in the next few days, I will share my thoughts with you on it!

OK guys, enjoy your Friday night!
