People move to Florida and California for different reasons?

I have been wanting to write this post for several days…things just get in the way..I think it is called life.  Anyhow, why do people move to Florida and why do people move to California?  Having lived in Florida for seven of the past eight years, I feel like I am someone who can write about this with “some authority’!  See my book, Surviving “Paradise” by Susan Willoch Shaver at Amazon.com.  People move to Florida to “escape”.  It is always something, even if it is nothing more than cold, harsh winter weather.  Maybe it is escaping “people”?  I have wonderful friends in Sarasota who are from Chicago, Boston, even Canada.  They are “snow birds”, they spend six months of the year in Florida to escape the harsh winters of their beloved hometowns/country.  Still, there are so many people who move to Florida to escape so much more.  Many move to escape the “law”.  They are running from something illegal and guess what, it is easy to do there.  No one pays any attention.  Again, see my book, Surviving “Paradise”.  They can live there and no one pays any attention to illegal actions, especially if one is spending money there, thus supporting the “tourist industry”.  Now, why does one move to California?  To achieve a dream, to make something happen that you never thought could happen but you hope and dream it may!  I have been to California.  It is beautiful.  Geographically, it is breathtaking.  Northern California, think San Francisco, Golden Gate Bridge, Red Wood forest and Napa Valley Wine Country.  Southern California, well is is just unparalleled.  The drive on the Pacific Coast highway is so beautiful it takes your breath away.  Moreover, when you land at LAX, a feeling sets in that anything is possible.  I have never felt anything like it.  Obviously, some dreams die on the streets of Sunset Boulevard, the homeless situation there is awful. Still, there is simply something about southern California.  One feels that your hopes and dreams are real, and that you can achieve them.  So, there is a huge difference between moving to Florida and California, not just the $$$, high cost of living in CA vs FL but something much more intrinsic, the belief in yourself and the surroundings.  It is beautiful.  Oh, how I wish I were there now!  I so want my dreams to come true.

Now, I must watch Promised Land on demand with Matt Damon and J0hn Krasinski.  I missed this in theaters and have been waiting for it to be available on demand!  Speaking of making your dreams come true…
