Well, well, another day, another report of a celebrity misbehaving. Only this time, it is really downright surprising! Reese Witherspoon and her husband, agent Jim Toth, were arrested early Friday am in Atlanta. They were pulled over (by a State Trooper) after Troth veered into the wrong lane on Peachtree Road. Now driving on Peachtree Road is enough of a challenge as it is, so we really do not need people drifting back and forth across lanes for sure. Anyhow, he agreed to a sobriety test and blew .139, well above the legal limit of .08. Reese did not take kindly to her man being pulled over for DUI and began to hang out the window, shouting at the officer that she did not believe he was a real police officer. She then got out of the car after her husband was arrested in spite of the arresting officer instructions to stay put. Then comes the ugliest part, she began to shout “Do you know my name?”…”You are about to find out who I am.” Later..”You are going to be on national news”. First of all, who cares. Secondly, the officer knew exactly who she was and did not care, it was irrelevant. The news only broke last night so it was actually kept rather quiet, especially for a “celebrity incident”. Reese is in Atlanta shooting a movie and after both were arrested and soon posted bond and released, she flew to New York for the premiere of her movie Mud with Matthew McConaughey. She also issued a very nice apology. She indicated she had “one drink too many” (you think?) and was concerned for her husband (OK, we understand that) and that she was disrespectful to the officer who was merely doing his job. She said she was deeply embarrassed, has nothing but respect for the police and she was very sorry for her behavior. So there, incident and apology. Just a bit surprising that it was Reese, she seems so normal and has been very outspoken about some of the young Hollywood stars and their “bad behavior”. Oh well, it can happen to the best of us. At the end of the day, legally blonde? not, as she is currently brunette, but legally drunk, yes!
