From the BNL D’Italia in Rome, the finals for tomorrow’s tennis action are set! On the women’s side, a bit of a surprise as Italy’s own Sara Errani defeated J. Jankovic 6-3, 7-5 (picked that one incorrectly). The good news..an emotional final for her tomorrow in her home country. The bad news…she will face Serena Williams, winner over Ana Ivanovic, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. Sara is 0-6 against Williams. I think it looks like another title for Ms. Williams tomorrow.
On the men’s side…drum roll please…it will be as expected! Djokovic vs. Nadal. #1 (Nadal) vs. #2 (Djokovic. Djokovic was pushed really hard today by M. Raonic of Canada, great effort by Raonic!! Djokovic prevailed 6-7, 7-6, 6-3. Really good match. Nadal cruised to victory over Dimitrov, 6-2, 6-2. So who ya got in this one for tomorrow? I think I will take Djokovic!
Now, will California Chrome get it done in the Preakness this afternoon? We are about an hour away from race time. I really hope this horse wins and gives us that glimmer of hope heading into the Belmont for a triple crown winner (have not had one since 1978 and it is time!) Many horses have won the Derby and the Preakness only to fall short at the Belmont. Still, getting ahead of ourselves. Victor Espinoza will ride California Chrome today. He last won both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness riding War Emblem. Did not win the Belmont. OK…stay tuned…back soon with the results!
And the dream continues…California Chrome wins the Preakness!! Just like at the Kentucky Derby, a burst of speed down the back stretch seals the deal! I love it…now on to the Belmont! Can we finally get a triple crown winner??? I hope so! Ride on Curlin places second and Social Inclusion places third!
