Seattle and New England both advance on Saturday, Sunday games!

Seattle and New England both advanced into their respective conference title games on Saturday with wins.  In rainy and windy Seattle, the Seahawks escaped Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, 23 – 15.  They await the winner of today’s matchup between San Francisco and Carolina.  Later on Saturday, in rainy (more misting) New England, the Patriots took care of the Colts, 43 – 22.  It was a commanding performance by the Patriots, the “run oriented” Patriots.  Call it the LeGarrette Blount show…160 plus yard rushing and 4 TDs, one a beautiful 73 yard break away run from scrimmage.  Andrew Luck threw four interceptions, the last one just being a desperate throw away as time expired but he has now thrown seven interceptions in two playoff games.  Hey, he is a huge talent and it is only his second year…So, now Tom Brady and the Pats await the outcome of the late game today (Sunday), San Diego at Denver.  Can Peyton Manning and the Broncos do their part and win at home (lost to the Chargers in San Diego) to set up that huge AFC title game we all want??  Another Manning – Brady Bowl?  Stay tuned…we will find out!  GO BRONCOS!

I am back…San Francisco over Carolina, 23 – 10.  Cam Newton throws couple of costly interceptions at home.  So, we will get the team from California (northern Cali), the 49ers vs. the team from the Pacific Northwest, Seattle for the NFC Championship.  Should be a GREAT one!  No love lost between Jim Harbaugh (San Fran) and Pete Carroll (Seattle).  Interestingly they both came from the collegiate ranks in California, Harbaugh from Stanford and Carroll from USC.

Now, from Denver…a FINAL, Denver 24, San Diego 17!  So we get the matchup we were all hoping for next weekend for the AFC Championship game…Denver vs. New England…Manning – Brady again!  Furious comeback by San Diego in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter.  Phillip Rivers had 173 yards passing and 2 TDs in the fourth quarter.  Still, not enough.  Even after recovering an onside kick and going on to score to cut into the lead, Broncos prevail.  Thank you!  Denver vs. New England next weekend..be there or be square!!!

Golden Globes on tonight!  DVR is going to be hard at work…True Detective on HBO, House of Lies on SHOW, Good Wife and of course, Betrayal on ABC.  Will have a lot of catching up to do.  And, the Australian Open coverage starts tomorrow at 3:00 pm EST.  Gee, I am worn out just thinking about it all!

Until later…have a good night!
