Serena Williams is the Champion! Once again, Serena has won the Sony Open in Miami, coming back from a 2-5 deficit in the first set to defeat Li Na, 7-5, 6-1. Take note…Li Na played well, she is after all the world #2 while Serena is world #1. Serena is just that good. Li Na was serving for the first set at 5-4 and Serena broke back and then went on to serve out the first set. The second set, well the scoreline says it all, 6-1. Congrats to Serena.
Tomorrow, another Djokovic-Nadal battle, hopefully another epic and entertaining one. The conditions in Miami were very windy and overcast today…have to wait and see what tomorrow brings. Those weather conditions in south Florida are always ever changing!
Moving on to the “Dance”, some really great games last night! Michigan over Tennessee, 73-71, U Conn over ISU, 81-76, Kentucky over defending champion Louisville, 74-69 (Ashley Judd is smiling somewhere), and finally, UVA went down to Michigan State, 61-59 in a thriller. Hate to see the Cavs falter (being an ACC fan and all) but all credit to the Spartans.
Today, overall number one seed Florida will take on this year’s Cinderella, Dayton and then next, another number one seed still around, Arizona will face Wisconsin. Hope these two games are as good as the four games last night. My elite eight is looking pretty bad about now, how about yours?
Later…
