Some College Football news…

It appears that with Matt Barkley (senior QB) falling off the map as far as the Heisman race, USC would now like to throw standout sophomore WR Marqise Lee into the mix.  The school just released a video campaign on his behalf.  He is the top receiver in the country (88 catches), is second in receiving yards, and leads the Pac-12 with 12 receptions for a touchdown.  He has also been a force on special teams.  OK, still say Kenyon Barner (Oregon) is the guy but we shall see, Collin Klein is not out of it yet.

There was an interview in an Arkansas newspaper with Bobby Petrino’s father which indicated that Bobby would be interested in the Kentucky coaching  job (it has been confirmed that Joker Phillips will not be retained after this season).  WOW, really!  While Bobby Petrino will inevitably crop up somewhere (heaven help them, whoever they may be), it seems very unlikely he will resurface in the SEC.

And now for some inspiring news, Coach Steve Spurrier has said that he expects  injured star RB Marcus Lattimore to be in attendance this weekend for South Carolina’s home game against Arkansas.  I know his attendance will bring a huge response from the fans and hopefully be an uplifting  presence for his teammates.  Continue to hope he can recover and be back in football next year!!

Reminder for tonight’s games:  10 FSU at Virginia Tech.

And that other football game, the professionals, Thursday night football offers Andrew Luck and the Colts visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars.

While Luck is fun to watch, the FSU vs. VT game should be more interesting.
