Surviving “Paradise” on Thursday! and a bit of sports news too…

Oops!  Wednesday came and went and I forgot to promote my book Surviving “Paradise” by Susan Willoch Shaver.  So, I shall do so today, but in a bit!

First, Matt Ryan signs a very lucrative new deal with the Atlanta Falcons, 5 years, 103.75 million.  Good news!  Matty Ice will be staying in the ATL for a while.  Meanwhile, rumor is John Abraham has left the Falcons, signing a contract with the Arizona Cardinals.  So, good news, bad news.

Speaking of bad news, awful injury to Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson last night at Citi Field in NY.  The Braves beat the Mets 8 -2 but lost “Huddie” for the rest of the season.  He suffered a fractured ankle covering first base on a ground ball hit by the Mets’ Eric Young, Jr.  Freeman made the play and the throw, Hudson was on the bag, but unfortunately Young stepped right on Hudson’s foot, gruesome to watch, as you saw the ankle snap back.  Young felt horrible and was the first player over to check on Hudson along with Freeman, Brave’s manager Gonzalez and the trainer.  Word is he will have surgery once the swelling goes down and is done for the year.

Continuing with bad news, Roger Federer fell in his first match played in Gstaad, Switzerland to D. Brands, 6 – 3, 6 – 4.  This is a small indoor clay court tournament and Fed has been trying to test out the larger 98″ Wilson racquet he is switching to after a decade of using the Wilson 90″ racquet.  Things are not going well, and as a Fed fanatic, I am now a bit concerned.  A long time believer that Roger could play as long as he wanted and still win, even win majors, I am becoming concerned.  However, I know it takes time to adjust to a new racquet, the timing, the precision, all the components that make Roger’s game the “beautiful game” in tennis.  So, hit the pause button,  let’s see what happens next month at the Rogers Cup in Toronto.  (I am keeping my fingers crossed).

And now, for the event of the day, albeit one day late, everybody please check out and read my book Surviving “Paradise”  It is a very entertaining story of neighborhood mayhem in southwest Florida.  It is available at Amazon.com for $9.99 in paperback, $4.99 in kindle edition, and $4.99 at Barnes and Noble nook.  P.S.  I am working with a ghostwriter to produce a screenplay on the book which I will be sending out to agents, producers, etc.  Should be getting the first 25 pages by tomorrow!  EXCITING, or at least I sure hope so!
