Tennis results are in from Rome today (Friday) and perhaps a few surprises, especially on the women’s side. J. Jankovic defeated A. Radwanska 6-4, 6-4 and S. Errani (Italian) upset world number two Li Na, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Disappointed for Li Na and Radwanska, was pulling for them. Meanwhile Serena William did we expect her to do, won going away over Zhang of China, 6-1, 6-3 and Ana Ivanovic took a tough match over Saurez-Navarro to advance into the semifinals tomorrow. So, tomorrow, Serena vs. Ana and Jankovic vs. Errani. Other than Serena, bet noone had this on their semifinal card!
On the men’s side…some new names as well. Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray had a beauty of a three set match, with Nadal prevailing, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5. Perhaps an even better match was between Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer (the little bulldog that never gives up!) with Novak winning in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. Raonic over J. Chardy (THAT guy that took out my guy, Roger Federer) in three sets and Dimitrov over Tommy Haas who sadly had to retire with a shoulder injury. Hate that for Haas! So tomorrow, Djokovic vs. Raonic (big serve, really nice young man from Canada) and Dimitrov (I am warming to him) vs. Nadal.
Predictions…Serena and Jankovic? Men…Nadal and Djokovic (no upsets here?) OK, over and out for today. Enjoy your Friday evening!
P.S. No Unforgettable on tonight on CBS…BUMMER!
