Day one at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio, finds Tiger Woods tied for third place, shooting a round of 66 and coming in at -4. Tiger shot a sizzling 31 on the first nine holes and wound up the day with a 35 on the back nine. Four birdies for Tiger on the front nine. The PGA Championship (fourth and final major of 2013) looms and all of the big names are in Akron for this event. After day one, the leaderboard is as follows: Webb Simpson at -6 (round of 64, WOW!), Henrik Stenson at -5, Tiger Woods, Keegan Bradley, Chris Wood and Luke Donald, all at -4, and Jason Duffner, Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler at -3. Other notables, Rory Mcilroy at E for the day, Phil Mickelson, fresh off his British Open victory at +2 along with Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker.
Should be a great weekend of golf, the weather is spectacular and Tiger loves this golf course. Final tune up for all the top guys before the last major golf tournament of 2013.
In College Football news, the USA Today Coaches preseason poll came out today! (Oh, my, don’t we all just love these preseason polls!) Here it is for all who place stock in these sorts of things! 1. Alabama, 2. Ohio State (some feel Ohio State should be in the #1 slot), 3. Oregon (happy to see them there!), 4. Stanford (even happier to seen them there!) 5. Georgia (I am a GT fan so, no comment), 6. Texas A & M (Johnny Manziel is on the cover of SI, wonder if the SI curse will go into effect this season?), 7. South Carolina 8. Clemson (top ranked ACC team, FSU is in top twenty) 9. Louisville, and 10. Florida.
Less than a month til the start of College Football. Are you ready?
