US Open tennis action continues and wait for it…College Football is back! Can you believe it? How time flies when we are having so much fun! Boise State vs. Ole Miss on ESPN and Texas A&M (no more Johnny “Football” for the Aggies) vs. South Carolina on the new SEC Network. Arizona State also in action. Four top twenty five teams!
Meanwhile, under the lights last night at Flushing Meadow, Venus Williams won in straight sets as did Stan Wawrinka.
Today, #8 seed Ana Ivanovic was upset by K. Piskova, 7-5, 6-4. Really surprised and disappointed. I thought Ivanovic had an opportunity to go very far this year at the Open. Other results, Serena cruised over V. King, 6-1, 6-0, P. Kvitova won in two easy sets, Azarenka looks better each time out, winning today in two sets, Wozniacki won with ease (despite an awkward hair moment, her hair got stuck in her racquet!), and fifteen year old C. Bellis of the USA takes the court now for her second match.
Djokovic made short work of P. Mathieu, 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 and American John Isner also won in straight sets, 7-6 (a tie break, no, not Isner!), 6-4, 6-2. Tsonga advanced in straight sets also. M. Raonic is in action right now on ESPN2.
Tonight’s matches will feature Andy Murray and Eugenie Bouchard. (ESPN2) Tomorrow, Mr. Federer to serve again!
Enjoy!
