US Open updates…

US Open updates…tennis in full swing from NYC at Flushing Meadow.  Really special experience…final Grand Slam of the year!

Djokovic and Sharapova advance yesterday as does Stan the Man Wawrinka.  S. Halep needed three sets to advance and A. Kerber did as well. A. Radwanska won in two sets.  Today…Kvitova looks very impressive in a 6-1, 6-0 first match.  Ana Ivanovic looked beautiful and won in two easy sets, 6-3, 6-0. Bouchard bounced back from two difficult hard court tournaments coming into the US Open and won 6-2, 6-1.  Victoria Azarenka struggled but prevailed in three sets over Doi of Japan.  Great to see Vika battling her way back!  First upset of the tournament, D. Cibulkova goes out to Catherine Bellis (fifteen years old from the USA!) in three sets, and tonight Serena Williams will take the court against fellow American Taylor Townsend tonight after Mr. Federer!

On the men’s side…John Isner advanced in three sets (two tie break sets, imagine that for John!), Ferrer wins in three sets, K. Nishikori returns to action and wins in three sets.  Tonight at 7:00 pm EST, Roger Federer will begin his quest for a 6th US Open title (Grand Slam title #18) against Matosevic.  Be there or be square…GO FED!

Season finale of FX drama Tyrant also airs tonight at 10:00 pm EST.

Later!

Update: MJ (Michael Jordon) is in the house!  He is in Roger Federer’s box tonight!  Gotta love that!
