We’re almost done…one still remains in the balance

Rivalry week 2012 is almost done.  8 Stanford takes care of 17 UCLA 35 – 17.  So, we will get to see this game again for the Pac 12 Championship (great??).  Oregon will not advance to the championship game.  Do we really want to see Stanford and UCLA again?  Take nothing away from Stanford, they are underrated and undervalued for sure!

The ACC goes zero for four against the SEC.  12 South Carolina takes care of of 11 Clemson, 27 – 17. South Carolina was led by back-up quarterback Dylan Thompson and their defensive star Clowney is simply put, a BEAST!  Another win for the old ball coach against his instate rival.

9 Texas A & M pounds Missouri, 59 – 29.  Johnny “Football” Manziel scores 5 touchdowns, amasses 439 yards of total offense with 3 TD passes, one interception.  Did he cement his Heisman Trophy?  Some say a freshman cannot win it.  We will find out one week from this coming Monday.  Anyone who does not get what football is all about in Texas has obviously not watched that great show Friday Night Lights!

Finally, 1 Notre Dame appears to be on its way to the BCS Championship game, leading USC 22 – 13 with just over one minute to play.  USC, lead by redshirt freshman quarterback Max Wittek and Marquis Lee (another Heisman candidate?) had an opportunity with six minutes left, 1st and goal and Notre Dame had a tremendous goal line stand.  You cannot doubt this Notre Dame defense.  Manti Te’o is the real deal! (Another Heisman candidate?) It is over, Notre Dame wins!  They will play the winner of the SEC Championship game next weekend in Atlanta (either Alabama or Georgia).  Please, let it be Alabama.

What a weekend in College Football!!

Tomorrow, we look forward to the latest AP Poll (where will 12 – 0 Ohio State wind up?), the Coaches Poll and later in the evening, the BCS Poll.

Also, the professionals will be in action, you know, the NFL.  We will see where the Manning boys will be, and revisit that popular topic of Eli and his perm!!

Hope you all enjoyed this day as much as I did!  Until tomorrow, goodnight!
