What’s in store for us this Saturday as College Football action resumes? After last weekend, heaven only knows!! The action actually cranks up tonight on ESPN as Washington State visits 25 Stanford in a Pac 12 matchup. Pick…Stanford? Washington State sure was impressive against Oregon but I am going to go with the Cardinals in Palo Alto.
Saturday…nice slate of games on tap! 13 UGA visits 23 Missouri in a big SEC East battle. UGA will be without the services of star RB Todd Gurley, suspended indefinitely due to an issue regarding autographs for pay? Anyhow…still think the Dawgs are the favorite. 7 Alabama will lick their wounds after falling at Ole Miss last weekend and head to Arkansas, should prevail as well. 3 Ole Miss meanwhile will take on 14 Texas A&M (also lost last weekend) and I am going with the Rebels. Should be a good one, however. USC will be at 19 Arizona in another Pac 12 game…Arizona??? or does USC “upset” them. Probably not. Big game for Oregon, looking to get back into the “final four picture” as the 12 Ducks take on 18 UCLA in LA. Who ya got…Oregon! 9 TCU at 5 Baylor…should be one heck of a game but I will go with Baylor for the win. Finally, 2 Auburn at 3 Miss State. This is a very intriguing game, a toss up and while Auburn is the slight favorite, give me Miss State at home (those cow bells are SO loud!)
Meanwhile, I will be at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Grant Field for a 12:30 kickoff between Duke and 23 Georgia Tech. GO JACKETS. Georgia Tech needs to win this game (and it will not be easy) and then beat UVA and Pitt and that would lock up the ACC Coastal Division title. First things first however, will try to tweet out some updates and pics from the ATL tomorrow early afternoon!!
In tennis action from Shanghai, the semifinals are now set. The semifinal we would all really like to see as the final will be the second one on tap tomorrow (10:00 am EST on Tennis Channel) between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Federer is seeded #3 and Novak #1 as current #2 Rafael Nadal tried to play with an inflamed appendix and went out in the first round. Thus, Fed and Nole are in the same side of the draw. (Roger will move to #2 in the world on Monday, regardless of the outcome!) Anyhow, I will watch and then DVR as I must head out to the GT game before the match is over. Roger had a great first set against Benneteau today, winning in a tie break, 7-6 and then rolled him in the second set 6-0. Nole defeated Ferrer, 6-4, 6-2. G. Simon took out Thomas Berdych in three sets and F. Lopez defeated M. Youzhny in three sets so Simon and Lopez will face off very early in the first semifinal. Should be a great semifinal match between Federer (playing really well after looking a little rusty in his first match back after vacation) and #1 Djokovic.
Until later…Happy Friday!
Apologies to Seminole Nation…#1 FSU vs. Syracuse also on at noon Saturday. I am going to pick the Noles!
