ABC drama Nashville

The ABC hit drama Nashville returns with new episodes tonight at 10:00 pm EST.  Yeah!!!  I cannot wait.  This show is so good.  Also on tonight, my new BFF Whitney at 10:30 pm EST on E Channel, Love You, Mean It/Whitney.  Will DVR that one and watch ASAP.  Love her, love Nashville.

If you are interested in a great, entertaining read with ridiculous drama and humor, please check out my book Surviving “Paradise” by Susan Willoch Shaver.  It is available at Amazon. com for $9.99 in paperback and $3.30 in kindle edition. Also, at Barnes and Noble Nook for $4.99.  It is all about neighborhood mayhem in southwest Florida at its best.  You cannot make up this level of crazy!  Buy it, read it, and tell your friends about it.  Then, one day we can hopefully look forward to seeing a TV or movie version of this story.  Maybe even both!

Thanks guys!  Enjoy your evening!

Way too early 2013 College Football top 25 from Bleacher Report

We are two days removed from the BCS National Championship Game and here we go, the way too early predictions for next season’s top 25.  From Bleacher Report, 1 Alabama, 2 Oregon, 3 UGA, OK, enough, I am going to stop there.  Of personal interest to me, the title game returns to beautiful Pasadena, CA next year.  If you are not familiar with all that Pasadena has to offer, check it out.  It is a really cool, cultural and artsy place.  Maybe it would be worth the trip, regardless of who plays in the game (perhaps Alabama and Oregon this time??)  Anyhow, maybe I will see you there!

Hope Georgia Tech with Vad Lee at QB can be a force in the ACC and perhaps get a ranking as the year progresses!  Expecting them to build off of their first bowl victory in seven/eight years and make something happen!

Meanwhile, I am ready for some tennis!  Australian Open starts next Monday, 1/14/13.  That means ROGER FEDERER!!!  Always happy when Roger Federer is on for my viewing pleasure.

No MLB Hall of Fame Inductees

No one made it through the first round of voting for induction into the MLB Hall of Fame.  This marks only the second time that this has happened in forty years.  Bonds, Clemons, and Sosa all failed to make the cut.  Most likely the “steroid controversy” era played a role in this.  Does not mean no one will make the cut in the second round of voting!

The ACC Player of the Year, Tajh Boyd, QB at Clemson, has just announced he will return to Clemson for his senior season and not enter the NFL draft.  Congrats to Clemson and hope it proves to be a great decision for Tajh!

Lakers fall but Steve Nash reaches milestone!

The limping, struggling LA Lakers lost to Jeremy Lin, James Harden (25 pts.)  and the Houston Rockets last night, 125 – 112.  WOW!  125 is a lot of points to give up!  Could we say the Lakers are really struggling on the defensive end, of course being mindful of the fact that Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol are injured and not playing nor is Jordan Hill.  On the “bright” side, Steve Nash reached a monumental milestone, over 10,000 career assists.  He joins a list of only 4 other players in NBA history to achieve this.  The 10,000th assist came on a dish to Antawn Jamison so they will forever be linked.  Nash finished with 16 points and 10 assists.  Also, Robert Sacre (the bench entertainer of the year) did get some playing time.  Next up for the Lakers will be the Spurs tonight.  It does not look like they are likely to win any of the three games they will have played this week.  Need Dwight and Pau and Hill back ASAP.  Even then, it could be a bit of panic time in La La land!  Just for your information, I believe they will figure a way to at the very least, make the playoffs.

In other NBA action, the Pacers beat the Miami Heat, 87 – 77.  Are you kidding me?  They held LeBron and company to 77 points for four periods!

In College hoops, #1 Duke in ACC action hammered Clemson, 68 – 40.  They held Clemson to the lowest point total in the first half of a game in ACC since 1979.  Bit of bad news, Ryan Kelly sat out part of the second half with a right foot injury.  He will get a MRI today.

Surgery for RG III

Bad news for RG III and the Washington Redskins.  RG III will have major surgery today to be performed by Dr. William Andrews to repair both a torn ACL and a torn LCL in his right knee.  He is expected to be out at least 6 – 8 months and will not be available for the start of the 2013 season.  Such a shame after having a tremendous rookie season.

Another star having surgery is Yankee’s third baseman A-Rod.  He is scheduled to have hip surgery and will likely not return until the All-Star break.

SportsNation is back…from LA

Finally, SportsNation is back, from beautiful sunny Los Angeles!  It is on at 6:00 pm EST on ESPN2.  Charissa Thompson and the show is back with her new co-host…Marcellus Wiley!  I think they are really enjoying themselves, and why wouldn’t they be?  The topic of the day, last night’s BCS title game.  Alabama is great!  But viewers voted by 65% that Notre Dame was not that good.  Just as Charissa said, everyone watching the game was asking themselves (see my post from last night) why, oh why, was Oregon not there?  Maybe would have been a better game?  Alas, we will never know.  At least not this year!
