Great game in Dallas this afternoon

Great game this afternoon between the Steelers and the Cowboys in Dallas.  Went to OT with Dallas winning 27 – 24.  Dallas scored the last ten points to come from behind for a big win.  Big Ben was intercepted in OT and the ball was run back to the one yard line.  Being conservative, Romo took a knee at the three and Dallas kicked the game winning field goal (kicked it twice as Pittsburgh called time out just as the first attempt was made)!  The second attempt was good as well, game over.

Other afternoon games saw Oakland defeat Kansas City, 15 – 0; Carolina and Cam Newton continued their winning ways with a 31 – 7 victory over San Diego; also, Arizona defeated Detroit, 38 – 10.

SNF:  San Francisco at New England.

I may have to watch a Christmas movie after that big Atlanta win over Eli and the Giants!

Welcome to the Georgia Dome, Eli Manning and the NY Giants!

WOW!  What a performance by the Atlanta Falcons,  Hello out there to all the doubters.  The Falcons handle the Giants and Eli Manning (the one with the great hair) with ease, winning 34 – 0.  Yes, that is 34 – 0!!  Matt Ryan had 270 yard passing, going 23/28 with 3 TD’s.  Eli, had two interceptions and the Falcon defense was not to be taken lightly today.  Great win for the Falcons!

In other action:  Peyton, the older Manning brother had a great day, passing for over 200 yards as the Broncos defeated the Ravens, 34 – 17.  Moreno had a nice day rushing for over 100 yards.  In one of the oldest rivalries in the NFL, Green Bay defeated the Bears (with Jay Cutler) 21 – 13.  Houston rebounded from last week’s debacle and defeated Andrew Luck and Indy, 29 – 17.  The Jacksonville Jaguars continued to look hopeless, losing to Miami 24 – 3. New Orleans defeated Tampa Bay 41 – 0.  A tale of two quarterbacks, as Drew Brees threw for over 300 yards and 4 TD’s and Josh Freeman of Tampa Bay had four interceptions.   Minnesota defeated St. Louis, 24 – 3 as Adrian Peterson ran for over 200 yards and also had a 82 yard rushing TD for the second week in a row.  And finally, the Redskins, without RG III, defeated the Cleveland Browns, 38 – 21.

Get ready for the late afternoon NFL action!

Showdown Sunday in the NFL preview

Tomorrow is Showdown Sunday in the NFL.  A lot of great games are featured, and both the Manning brothers will be in action early in critical games.  Eli and the New York Giants will visit Atlanta to take on the Falcons.  Peyton and the Denver Broncos will travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens (who will not have Ray Lewis).  Other early match ups include Green Bay at Chicago; Andrew Luck and Indy vs. Houston (coming off of last week’s embarrassing loss to New England); and the Redskins (with or without RG III?) vs. the Cleveland Browns.

Later in the day, we will have for our viewing pleasure: Kansas City at Oakland; Pittsburgh at Dallas; and Carolina (fresh off their upset of Atlanta last weekend) vs. San Diego.

SNF will be San Francisco at New England.

Big day tomorrow in NFL.  Until then…

Results from the Idaho Potato Bowl

The Idaho Potato Bowl from Boise was the second bowl in today’s line up and 22 Utah State ran away from Toledo, 41 – 15.  Utah State RB Williams rushed for 235 yards and Toledo was just simply unable to stop him or Utah State.  Toledo had one of their players ejected and earlier today, two Arizona players got into a “fight” on the sidelines in the New Mexico Bowl.  Other than that, it was a day to focus on great performances, tremendous come from behind victories, and a great start to the bowl season!

Unbelievable finish to New Mexico Bowl!

Arizona comes storming back to win the New Mexico Bowl over Nevada, 49 – 48.  They trailed 48 – 35 late in the 4th quarter and somehow manage to pull off this amazing come from behind victory, courtesy of quick TD’s and a successful onside kick.  WOW!  This game featured 1234 yards of total offense and a combined 70 first downs!  Hope this is a preview of all we have to look forward to with bowl season just getting underway!

A taste of March Madness in December!

What a game in Indiana.  #1 Indiana falls to Butler in OT, 88 – 86.  Butler pulls this upset off without three starters, two fouled out in regulation late, one in OT.  What a game!!  Just think, NCAA Basketball is just getting started!

Good bye Big East in basketball

Latest reports indicate all seven of the schools previously reported to be leaving the Big East in Basketball are doing so.  What will become of the Big East?  Will it even exist?  Things never stop changing these days in College sports!

Do you think Beadle has any regrets???

Do you think Michelle Beadle has any regrets about leaving the ESPN show SportsNation to go to Access Hollywood?  Just thought I would throw this out there.  SportsNation is moving to LA as of January 2013. Charissa Thompson, her replacement, is headed to the west coast (lucky, lucky girl!).  No Colin Cowherd, say is ain’t so!!!  Michelle who has now joined Access Hollywood is stationed in New York City.  She recently interviewed Brad Pitt (never a bad day) and next up she has Tom Cruise. Still, would you choose LA or NY?  Or, would you prefer to cover sports, or pop culture?  Interesting dilemma,  hard to say but I expect at the end of the day, $$$ are the answer.  I would choose LA.  I love NY, but I would choose LA!  Just saying…

Interesting NCAA Basketball game in progress…

No. 1 Indiana is currently in action vs. Butler (you remember, the Cinderella team, Butler).  Pretty good game going on.  Sometimes, Hollywood royalty is in the house when Indiana plays, John Mellencamp and Meg Ryan (remember, I love Meg Ryan!).  Anyhow, John is apparently a very big supporter of the University of Indiana.  He still owns property in his home state.  Do not know that they are in attendance at this game, but they do support Indiana in basketball.  This game only in second half.  Could be a good one…

When you are right, you are right, what can I say???

Second half of the New Mexico Bowl just getting under way.  I said there would be a whole lot of offense in this game.  Well, in the first half alone, over 700 yards of combined total offense. Score at the half, Arizona 28 – Nevada 31.

No reason to expect the second half will be any different.  Stay tuned…
