College Football Live news…

To quote John McEnroe, “you cannot be serious!”  College Football Live on ESPN today reports that Tommy Tuberville was out to dinner with a group of recruits for Texas Tech and got up and left the table after ordering, and never returned!!  He then became the head coach at Cincinnati!!  Are you kidding me?  He did not even stick around to eat his steak?  If true, that is horrible.  Think about those young men sitting at the table, trying to make a huge decision in their lives, and wandering, where did Tommy go??

Another “royal” pregnancy…

OK, not a royal pregnancy in the British tradition like William and Kate, but still, exciting news for one of America’s first political families.  Jenna Bush Hager and her husband are expecting their first child next spring.  Jenna is a special contributor on the NBC “Today” show.  This morning, the grandparents to be, George W. and Laura called in to express their excitement and joy.  Congrats!!  Jenna has grown and matured into a truly lovely young lady.  (The other twin, Barbara has as well).

Kobe Bryant one on one…

Stephen A. Smith had an interesting segment this am on ESPN Sportscenter with Kobe Bryant.  They were discussing the Lakers’ woes, their current 9 – 13 season, thoughts on Coach Mike D’Antoni and others.  One thing that comes out is that while Kobe does feel a sense of urgency, there is no panic.  He knows they have to come together and play better, making the most out of the player talent on the roster.  He looks forward to the return of Steve Nash.  He does acknowledge that the Lakers are far from the quickest team in the league, but he says you do not have to have speed to successfully run an up tempo offense.  Players just need to execute, and they need to execute better.  He says Dwight needs to improve his free throw shooting of course, while also saying he, himself, needs to work on not turning the ball over as much.  He believes Pau belongs in the post position more, not out on the perimeter, and that when he returns from sitting out due injury, they will run more plays through him in the post.  Time has not run out on the Lakers.  There is still time for them to get it together, make it to the post season and be playing great basketball as a team when that time comes.

Regarding Mike D’Antoni, Kobe says he was his first choice for the coaching position, once Phil was not available.  Well, we have all of course heard that Phil thought he was available.  (Phil Jackson)

Back with more later…

GT’s Jemea Thomas looking at NFL draft options…

Georgia Tech’s junior Jemea Thomas is considering his options, looking into NFL draft.  He was a standout at both safety and cornerback for the Jackets this season, on an otherwise disappointing defense.  I like to think of him as GT’s version of the ‘Honey Badger”.  Everyone looking forward to the opportunity to play USC in the Hyundai Sun Bowl.  Please Jemea, don’t go!!

New Girl, for the guys, Oliva Munn is guest starring, apparently for a number of episodes.  She plays Nick’s stripper crush. I am just saying, tis the season, and I am a giver!

For the ladies, Private Practice and Parenthood on.  DVR one, watch one, catch the other later.  (That is what I am doing!)

Lakers are down at the half…

Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers continue to struggle (don’t know how else to put it?).  They are down at the half  to the Cavs, 54 – 39.  Perhaps they come back, perhaps they don’t.  This is just so hard to comprehend.  They are missing key pieces, Steve Nash, Pau Gasol, still they have Kobe, Dwight and others.  What is so wrong??  Stay tuned, maybe the final will change the story?

Final score: Cleveland 100 – Lakers 94, the song remains the same.  I am starting to get concerned, and  I am a believer, and I love LA!

Great game on between Knicks and the Nets!  Battle of NY, Knicks win!
