Good news for RG III and the Redskins!

Good news for RG III and the Washington Redskins.  Reports indicate that the MRI on RG III’s knee shows no ligament damage.  That should bring a smile to everyone in the nation’s capital!

Lakers continue to lose…

First it is Lakers struggle, then they continue their slide, now, well, they just appear to continue to lose!  Very troubling, especially if one likes the Lakers and wants to see them playing late into the post season.  It is still a little early to hit the panic button, I hope.  They lost last night to the Jazz, 117 – 110 with Kobe Bryant scoring 34 points.  At least, they are not getting blown out, just not getting the job done.

Coach Mike D’Antoni has quelled rumors of Pau Gasol coming off the bench once he recovers from tendinitis in both knees.  He has said Pau will start when he returns.  Thank you for that!!

MLB Blockbuster deal…

Tampa Bay has traded pitcher James Shields and Wade Davis to Kansas City in a huge and somewhat surprising move that will get them a top hitting prospect, Wil Myers in return(along with three other players).  There are a total of six players involved in this deal with different moving parts and teams.  Looking to increase prospect of winning immediately as opposed to thinking long term?  Everyone has been a bit shocked to see them trade Shields, but in the highly competitive division they are in, drastic measures may be cal

Lakers continue to struggle…

The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the OKC Thunder last night, 114 – 108.  This was an improvement over the halftime score of trailing 67 – 53.  Kobe Bryant scored 35 points, while the Thunder’s Kevin Durant had 36, and Westbrook finished with 33 for OKC.

The Lakers are missing some parts, for sure.  Now there is talk of Pau Gasol coming off the bench as opposed to starting once he fully recovers from tendinitis in both knees.  Really?  Trade him, bench him, what is up?  Pau cannot catch a break!

The Atlanta Hawks are however, on quite a roll, winning 8 of their last 9 games.  Must validate new GM Danny Ferry and some of the roster changes he decided to make.

Thriller of a game prior to the Lakers vs. OKC last night involving the Celtics and the 76ers.  The Celtics lost in OT, 94 – 95 as Rondo missed a jumper that would have won the game! (Note: Rondo was two assists shy of having a triple double in the first half.  Wow!)

Back to Pau, I really like Pau Gasol (and I want you to like him too)!  Wonder what Kobe has to say about this possible change??

This one is for the ladies…

Kind of cheesy, but I have to do it!  Watched a really cute Christmas movie from Hallmark Channel, Hitched for the Holidays.  This movie stars Joey Lawrence (Melissa and Joey) and Emily Hampshire (adorable).  In the interest of full disclosure, I had it on my DVR from last week.  It was really cute, and sweet.  There is New York, Times Square, snow, well that is all I am going to give you.  I am sure it will be rerun numerous times between now and Christmas.  Check it out!  Really enjoyed it!!

Sunday Night Football

n Green Bay, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!  The Packers come back from a fourteen point deficit to defeat the Lions, 27 – 20.  Lions kick a field goal with 8 seconds remaining but too little, too late.  The snow was really coming down early in the game but by the 4th quarter, it was barely falling.  Kind of pretty, after all, tis the season!  Packers win!  Third straight loss for the Lions when leading by ten points (or more).  Packers have won seven of their last eight.  They head to Chicago next weekend with a chance to clinch the division with a victory.

More NFL scores…

Sunday late day NFL results:  San Francisco over Miami 27 -13.  (Colin Kaepernick at QB for the 49ers)  Eli Manning and the NY Giants roll over New Orleans, 52 – 27.  Eli has 4 touchdown passes and two interceptions (13 so far this year).  Break out game for running back David Wilson (formerly of Virginia Tech, ACC!) with 327 all purpose yards, including a 97 yard kick off return for a TD.  Big win for Eli and the Giants who will travel to the ATL to take on the Falcons next weekend.

Injury updates:  RG III of the Redskins will have a MRI on his knee tomorrow, being called a knee sprain as of today.  Jay Cutler left the Bear’s loss with a neck injury, not related to his previous concussion issues.

Tonight, Green Bay at Detroit.  Maybe, MegaTron (Calvin Johnson) can help the Lions improve on a disappointing performance so far this season!

MNF: Houston at New England.

Couple of other score: Seattle 58 – Arizona 0. (embarrassing!)  Andrew Luck and the Colts (now 9 – 4) defeat Tennessee 27 – 23.

Big disappointment for Atlanta Falcons…

Some early NFL finals.  Big disappointment for the Atlanta Falcons as they fall to Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, 20 – 30.  Atlanta is in search of home field advantage for the playoffs at at this point.  Somewhat of a letdown today in Carolina as the Falcons fall to 11 – 2.  They will have a big game next weekend at home vs. Eli Manning and the New York Giants.

In the nation’s capital, RG III and the Redskins pull out an OT win over the Baltimore Ravens, 31 – 28.  The magic continues for last year’s Heisman Trophy winner and the Redskins.  RG III did sustain an injury, the extent of said injury remains unknown as this time.

The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to be somewhat dismal, as they fall to the Jets. 10 – 17.  The Cowboys come from behind to take the Bengals, 20 – 19.  Minnesota takes care of Chicago and Jay Cutler, 21 – 14, another disappointing loss this weekend in the NFL for the Bears.  Philadelphia led by QB Foley replacing Micheal Vick defeat Tampa Bay, 23 – 21.  San Diego rolls over Big Ben in his return and Pittsburgh, 34 – 24.

Late this afternoon in NFL action, the 49ers and the Dolphins and Eli and the Giants vs. New Orleans.  In the first half, Miami and San Francisco are tied up at 3 – 3.  The Giants lead the Saints, 14 – 7.

Updates coming…

NFL Today!

Big game today in the nation’s capital as the Baltimore Ravens visit RG III and the Washington Redskins!

On TV today for me, first up the 11 – 1 Atlanta Falcons visit Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.  Later today, Miami vs. San Francisco.  And, as always, where in the world are the Manning brothers??  Well, Eli (the one with the great hair) and the New York Giants will host Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.  Big Brother Peyton has the day off, after playing on Thursday night.  He probably never takes a day “off” during the season, but he is not in action after his stellar performance this past Thursday.

Other action features Tennessee at Indianapolis, San Diego at Pittsburgh, and Philadelphia at Tampa Bay.

SNF will offer Detroit (a disappointing 4 – 8) vs. 8 -4 Green Bay.

Big MNF match up tomorrow night:  11 – 1 Houston at 9 -3 New England (Tom Brady is a new daddy!)

Back later…
