It is at long last, time for rivalry weekend!!!

Tomorrow, rivalry weekend gets underway in College Football.  Showtime is here!!  Some of the great games for our viewing pleasure are as follows:

Georgia Tech at Georgia, Alabama at Auburn, Virginia at Virginia Tech, Miami at Duke, Maryland at North Carolina, Boston College at N. C. State, Florida at FSU, Vanderbilt at Wake Forest, South Carolina at Clemson, Stanford at UCLA, Oregon at Oregon State, Notre Dame at USC.  Rankings have been omitted as this is RIVALRY WEEK!!  It all goes out the window, on any given Saturday!!!

Some important results from these games will impact the final BCS standings, not to mention the BCS Championship game.  Also, they will impact how much the conference championship games will impact the final verdict.

College GameDay is live from LA, in anticipation of Notre Dame at USC.

Cannot wait.  Stay tuned…it is going to be GREAT!!

P.S. GO JACKETS!

Picture from my return to “Paradise”

Want to share a picture from my recent visit to Sarasota, Florida, the scene of my book Surviving “Paradise”!  (see www.survivingparadise.info, which will temporarily direct you to www.survivingparadise.us).  These are some of the great friends I made during my six year experience in this strange place.  They are however, “beach people” and they helped me survive the crazy neighborhood mayhem I experienced ( and wrote about).  Please check it out, it is a great, fun and entertaining read!!

For your viewing pleasure, here is a picture!!  Enjoy!

A bit of Izod Indy Racing news…

Danica Patrick has announced that she will not race in next year’s Indy 500.  Now that she is part of the NASCAR Nationwide series, she has elected to not participate in this prominent race.  Somewhat disappointing, she did after all have a couple of top ten finishes, while she has not fared so well in the Nationwide series.  Also, she is divorcing her husband.  This is sad news on two fronts, both personally and professionally.  An Indy insider has informed me however, that on the personal front, her parents are not disappointed to hear about her impending divorce.

OK…on with the car racing!!

Roger Federer has announced his plans for 2013!

Mr. Federer has let us all know when we can expect to see him in action in 2013.  His schedule was released and it is as follows:

Australian Open

AMRO Tennis Tournament – Rotterdam, Netherlands

Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship (Dubai)

BNP Paribas Open – Indian Wells, California (on my personal bucket list)

Madrid Open – Madrid, Spain

International BNI – Rome, Italy

French Open – Roland Garros

Gerry Weber Open – Halle, Germany

Wimbledon!!

Rogers Cup – Montreal, Canada

Western and Southern Open – Cincinnati, Ohio

Shanghai Rolex Masters – Shanghai, China

BNP Masters – Paris

This of course does not include the obvious, US Open in Flushing Meadow, NY.

Glaring omissions are Miami (cannot say that I blame him!) and his hometown tournament in Basel, Switzerland (that could change).

I have on my own bucket list the desire to see Roger Federer play in person before he retires.  I think a trip to LA and then a quick trip up to Palm Springs to see him at Indian Wells would be perfect.  Anyhow, that is my dream!

Djokovic will be back and stronger than ever, Murray is coming, and Rafael Nadal is healing and should be back in time for Australian Open.  I am sure Roger and his team have given careful thought to this schedule, taking into account his age and family obligations, and I am looking forward to what Mr, Federer will bring to tennis in 2013!!

While I was away…

Well, while I was away, a lot of things went on apparently.  Cannot cover them all, but here is what I took in as “important”!

College Football: Maryland and Rutgers joined the Big Ten Conference!  This will bring the Big Ten Conference up to fourteen teams.  U Conn will likely now join the ACC, leaving the Big East.  Change, change and more change!

Mike D’Antoni coached his first Lakers’ game and the Lakers won.  Then they lost the next one.  This is still a work in progress, but I think it will progress to a success, in spite of what the naysayers have to say!  Plus, Steve Nash with his leg fracture will be out indefinitely.

The 49er’s buried the Chicago Bears (playing without Jay Cutler).  They were led by back-up quarterback Kaepernick, who may start their next game as well.

Thanksgiving day NFL results: Houston over Detroit in OT, 24 – 21; Redskins defeat Dallas, 38 – 31 with RGIII throwing  four touchdown passes; and finally, New England buries the Jets, 49 – 19.

TV news: I realized after watching Private Practice (on twice), that not only was this Addison’s last season (Kate Walsh), but it was in fact the last season of this show.  Gee, I like this show.  Anyhow, maybe Addison and Jake (the love of her life) will have a wedding to end the season.  I really like her with Sam, but I am not writing the scripts.

OK, next up, news from Mr. Federer!

I am back and I am so excited…!

Hey everyone!  I am back and I am so excited.  Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  Just want to say I am excited because Georgia Tech is the ACC Coastal Division Champions and will play FSU on December 1st at 8:00 pm for the ACC Championship.  Thank you Miami for imposing a self-ban on post season play due to your impending NCAA investigation!!  Anyhow, will be back to post some pics later and of course, talk some more sports!!

P.S. Regarding the TV show Whitney, want to correct myself.  Her two girlfriends are Roxanne and Lillie, her boyfriend/finance/faux husband is Alex.  Roxanne is the one who told Lillie she was kind of like having a cat, one that talks!

Back soon…

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone ( a few days early)!

I am leaving tomorrow morning for a little get away to visit some of my friends at Lido Beach, yes that would be in Sarasota, FL, the setting of my book Surviving “Paradise”.  So, for the first time in over two years, I am returning to “Paradise”!  I have not seen some of my dear friends in sometime, see Beach People, chapter 8 in my book (Surviving “Paradise” by Susan Willoch Shaver)!

They are wonderful people and I am so looking forward to seeing them.  Some of them I have not had the pleasure of seeing in over two and a half years.  One of my good buds I did get to see last year at Thanksgiving.

Anyhow, I want to let all you wonderful people who are following this blog know that I will be away and wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.  To any of you who are traveling like me, safe travels!

I will be returning home by week’s end, and will be back with you to blog about all of next weekend’s rivalry games!!!

P.S. GO JACKETS!!!

Again, Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for your support!

Few more Sunday sports updates…

Matt Barkley, quarterback for USC, who left the game against UCLA late in the 4th quarter will not be play next weekend against Notre Dame.  More reason for the Irish to smile!

Sunday Night Football:  Baltimore currently leads Pittsburgh, 13 – 10 in the 4th quarter.  Pittsburgh is playing without the services of Big Ben.  Nice to see former star B-back, Jon Dwyer of GT doing so well at the next level for the Steelers.  That being said, those ridiculous uniforms have got to go.  I mean really!!!
