Private Practice

Maybe it is just me.  I don’t know.  I really like Benjamin Bratt.  His character, Jake, on Private Practice is a super guy.  But if I were Addison, (Kate Walsh), I would still pick Sam (Taye Diggs).  I am just saying… Maybe the fact that she is leaving the show after this season plays a role in this storyline.  Inevitably, we will find out as this season unfolds.  I was not prepared to have Tim Daly (Pete) die and be gone from the show.  That was a shocker!

Way too early College Football preview…

Well, we have a brief lull…World Series doesn’t start until tomorrow so hold onto your seats, let’s roll with a way too early preview of this weekend’s College Football action:

3 Kansas State at 14 Texas Tech; will Collin Klein continue on his drive to the Heisman?

5 Notre Dame at 8 Oklahoma; College GameDay will be live from Norman, Oklahoma   This will go a long way in determining who is for real and who is not!

11 Mississippi State at 1 Alabama;  Can Mississippi State stand up to the challenge of facing Bama in Tuscaloosa?  Likely not.

Ohio State at Penn State; an undefeated Ohio State travels to a surprising Penn State.

Duke (bowl eligible for the first time since 1994) travels to Tallahassee to take on 12 FSU.  Could be better than expected.  Much praise to  David Cutcliffe and the job he has done at Duke.  He is after all, the mentor and former coach of the great Peyton Manning!

2  Florida hosts 10 UGA at the outdoor cocktail party in Jacksonville.  The winner will be in the driver’s seat for the SEC East.  I am picking Florida.

Other games: 9 USC at Arizona and Tennessee at 13 South Carolina.  Can the old ball coach and the Gamecocks rebound from two very disappointing performances?  Probably, yes.

Georgia Tech hosts BYU for homecoming.  BYU gave Notre Dame all they could want and more.  Will GT’s defense hold up to the challenge this weekend?  Will we see more of Vad Lee ( I, for one, hope so!!  I will likely be there and will posts pics and more.

Don’t worry, I will be on top of all the other action as well!!

It will be the GIANTS vs. the Tigers!!!

It is pouring rain in San Francisco and they are celebrating a huge win over the St. Louis Cardinals 9-0 to win the NLCS in game 7.  They faced six elimination games but had never won a game 7 until tonight.  This was especially sweet for them, winning at home in front of their fans.  Congratulations to them and to my beach gang buddy (see my book Surviving “Paradise”)!  What a comeback.  They are only the third team to come from 1-3 down and win the National League Championship (previous teams were the 03 Marlins over the Cubs and the 1996 Braves over the Cardinals).  The World Series will begin Wednesday in San Francisco.

Monday Night Football: Chicago Bears 13 – Detroit Lions 7  The Bears were dominating but the Lions were equally self destructive, turning the ball over numerous times in the red zone.

Congratulations again to the San Francisco Giants.  MVP goes to Marco Scutaro.

That’s it for tonight!

Lance is stripped…

The International Cycling Union has officially stripped Lance Armstrong of all 7 of his Tour de France titles (1999-2005).  This comes on the heels of him being dropped by Nike and stepping down as head of his Foundation.  Very sad!!  In spite of this, one cannot take away from him the satisfaction he must feel from all the work he has done to raise money for cancer research.

In tennis news, Roger Federer defeated Germany’s Benjamin Becker to advance to the second round of the Swiss Indoor Tournament in Basel.  Roger is heavily favored to repeat as champion in his hometown tournament, especially with world number 3 Andy Murray dropping out due to a back injury.  Fed has won this event six of the past seven years.  Coverage on Tennis Channel will begin tomorrow at 4:30 pm EST.  Shh. Quiet..Genius at Work!!

There will be a game 7…

San Francisco Giants win 6-1 over the St. Louis Cardinals and will force a game 7 tomorrow night (from San Francisco).

Monday Night Football – Pittsburgh leads Cincinnati 24-17 with just over 2 minutes remaining.  Notable former standouts form Georgia: Jon Dwyer from Georgia Tech for Pittsburgh, Micheal Johnson from Georgia Tech for Cincinnati, and A J Green from UGA for Cincinnati.

It has been quite a weekend!!

Latest BCS Standings…

Updated BCS Standings just out!

1 Alabama, 2 Florida, 3 Kansas State, 4 Oregon, 5 Notre Dame

6, LSU, 7 Oregon State, 8 Oklahoma, 9 USC, 10 Georgia  (really??)

WOW!  If I were Oregon, I would not be happy!!  Also, Georgia at 10?  Really, after a very unimpressive showing against Kentucky!  It is just amazing how the computer polls and the human polls interface and come up with this!  Oregon has been treated rudely!  What a diss!!!!!!  I would say West Coast football gets no respect, but there is USC at no. 9.  There really is no way to figure this out and make everyone happy.  Still, I think Oregon is no. 2.  They will get their chance with the remaining games they have against Stanford, USC and Oregon State, one would hope.  Also, don’t forget about USC!  Georgia vs. Florida this weekend at Jacksonville should be interesting as well.

OK, calm down….Giants are up 5-0 in NLCS game in 4th inning.  I am sort of pulling for the Giants because of my beach gang friend Paul who is a scout for the Giants! (check out  Surviving “Paradise” at Amazon.com!!)  Then again, the Cards knocked out my Braves in the wild card game, go National League!

Pittsburgh up 7-3 over Cincinnati at start of 2nd quarter on MNF.

Good Wife on at 9:30pm!

NLCS underway, Giants up 1-0 in 1st inning.  It’s early!
