Nashville is a repeat tonight

ABC hit new drama Nashville is a repeat episode tonight, so no new news from that show coming tomorrow.  For those of you who missed it last night, Andy Roddick’s better half, the lovely Brooklyn Decker guest starred on New Girl.  Love Zoey and all the guys on that show.

In other pop culture/sports crossover news, sad news for Indy car drive Dario Franchetti and his wife of eleven years, actress Ashley Judd.  They have announced they are divorcing.  Sad to hear this, Ashley was a familiar fixture at the Indy track when Dario was racing, always recognizable in her floppy hats, sundresses, and large shades.  Dario is my guy, my Indy race driver, so I am a fan of them both.  Again, sad news.

Kobe the facilitator

They said it today on ESPN referring to Kobe Bryant as Kobe the facilitator.  I said it first (see my earlier posts)!  This new formula does seem to be working for the Lakers, as they outlasted the Jazz last night, 111 – 106.  Dwight Howard had 24 points and Kobe had 14 points and 11 assists (important to note the double digit assists for Kobe again).  The Lakers will now head out on a difficult seven game road swing so we will find out if things are truly coming together or not.  The Staples Center meanwhile will ready itself for the upcoming Grammy Awards.

Media Day from New Orleans

Hey everybody, just in case you have been under a rock or locked in a closet, it is Super Bowl week.  Just kidding, you all know what week it is!  Today was media day, that day where players and coaches from both teams get to sit at the table and answer a bunch of questions the media throws at them.  Nothing new here really.  We all know that New Orleans is a fun town, they both respect each other, and they both want to win.  Something about Ray Lewis and him perhaps taking something illegal which he is denying, something to stir the pot on Tuesday before the big game on Sunday.  (Hopefully)

Kind of cool joint press conference with the coaches, the Harbaugh brothers, big brother John (Ravens) and little brother Jim (49ers).  They love each other, of course.

Two really great teams and two class act coaches.  Tremendous defenses, undervalued offenses.  49ers with little bit of QB controversy, Kaepernick now starting over Alex Smith (who will perhaps be looking for a trade after all is said and done?) and Joe Flacco, Ravens QB, who is not given elite status but is solid and shown he can lead his team to a victory over teams with “elite” QB’s.  Who will win?  I have said in an earlier post I am leaning toward San Francisco but not yet ready to make my pick.  I will do so closer to game day.  The line on the game remains at 3.5 pts., advantage 49ers.  The over/under went from 48 to 47.5, WOW, big change.  Who do you think will win.  Let me know before I give you guys my pick!

In case you missed it the first time…

Just in case you missed Matt Damon’s revenge,  hijacking the Jimmy Kimmel Show, it will reair tonight on ABC at 10:00 pm EST.  It really is hilarious.  Again, as I said before, must see TV.  Matt has a bunch of big name stars on, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Demi Moore, Amy Adams, Gary Oldman as guests.  There are some other great spoofs, don’t miss Ben Affleck declaring his love for Jimmy.  Also, Jimmy’s ex, Sarah Silverman puts in an appearance.  The opening monologue is the best part of the show.  If you missed it before, here is your chance to catch up!

New look Lakers putting it together?

Before the NBA season started, all we heard about was the new look Lakers, the additions of Dwight Howard and Steve Nash.  Well, here we are almost to February, and things have been rocky to say the least.  They fired their coach and hired a new one.  There have been numerous injuries, Nash, Gasol, and Howard.  And most importantly, they have really struggled to figure out how to play together with all the talent, perhaps a bit aging but still, a bunch of talent.  The past two games have shown a huge ray of hope for Lakers fans (myself included).  Kobe has become the facilitator with 28 assists in the past two game.  They beat the team with the best record in the Western Conference on Sunday (OKC) and looked really good doing so.  They will host the New Orleans Hornets (next year to be the Pelicans?) tonight in LA.  Will be interesting to see if this improved play continues and if they have in fact figured out a winning formula.  Can they make it into the playoffs?  I hope they can!

Six degrees of Kevin Bacon

Really interesting new show with Kevin Bacon on Fox called The Following.  Caught this show last night as several of the shows I would normally watch on Tuesdays have finished for the season and/or gone away forever.  This show is dark, intense and Kevin Bacon is just so great!  He plays a disgraced former FBI profiler who is brought back into the bureau as a serial killer he helped put away years ago is pulling strings from jail and making all matter of evil things take place.  Really interesting cast and storyline.  Again, hard to go wrong with Kevin Bacon.  It currently airs at 10:00 pm EST.

Is Tiger back? Really, he never left!

Great article at bleacherreport.com on Tiger Woods, fresh off winning the Farmers Open yesterday for the seventh time.  Again, the question, Is Tiger back?  Really people, he never left.  Healing, whether it is mental, emotional, and/or physical takes time.  Then there are adjustments and changes an athlete must often make as they get older and the sport changes.  Tiger has never gone away.  He does, however, now appear to be sending notice that he has mended some of the issues that have plagued him the past few years, and is putting it together to make a serious run at winning a major (or two) this year.  I predicted he would win one last year.  I was wrong, perhaps a year too early in my prediction.  I will make it again, Tiger wins at least one major this year!
