Speaking of Federer

Things are looking questionable for Andy Roddick at US Open.  He is down two sets to one to Del Potro.  Will have to wait and see how it turns out.  Could be last time we see Andy in action?

Fed up later tonight against Berdych.  More to follow!

Well, sad day at US Open in more ways than one.  Andy Roddick’s career comes to an end.  I know I shed a tear, as did many of you.  Classy way for Del Potro to handle the occasion.  Andy has done a lot for US tennis, especially as far as his contribution to US Davis Cup.  He will be missed.  Federer said we undervalued Andy and we should enjoy him while we had him   Now, we don’t.

Speaking of Federer, sad, sad, sad.  Lost to Berdych in four sets.  Take nothing away from Berdych.  He took it to him.  I am not a Berdych fan myself but Federer seemed a bit flat to start the match.  I do not think the walkover he got from Fish withdrawing helped him, he seemed out of rhythm.  Hopefully, Federer will finish out the year strong like he did last year and take the year end final in London.  He is, after all, the undisputed best indoor player in the world and will retain his number one ranking in spite of tonight’s loss.  Never happy day for me when Federer does not win.

Tomorrow, let’s talk some pop culture news.

Micheal Strahan

We have a new number 1 in the AP College Football poll, Alabama!!  Probably well deserved after the strong victory over a highly ranked Michigan team.  Still early in the season.  GT even received 14 votes in spite of the heartbreaking overtime loss to Virginia Tech. That was the first overtime game ever played at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, VA.  Little bit of history made.

Live with Kelly has announced the new co-host, Micheal Strahan.  No real surprise here as most of us speculated that is who would get the chair beside Kelly.  Here’s hoping we will still get to see Micheal along side Curt, Terry, Howie and Jimmy on Sundays!!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend.

Andy Roddick may take the court for the last time tonight at the US Open against Del Potro.  Will have to wait and see as rain is playing havoc with the schedule.  Will be waiting to see what happens as far as scheduled quarterfinal match for tomorrow between Federer and Berdych.

Interesting Ryder Cup team announced.  No real surprises!!

Tiger comes in third

Heartbreaking overtime loss for GT.  Defense played well, especially without three starters!  Somewhat disappointed in offense, maybe VT defense was just that good?  Cannot come up with zero points in overtime possession.  Really a shame, thought GT was going to pull out this game with a WIN.  The uniforms I can live with, not sure I can accept helmet change.  Still want to see the old gold helmets with GT on side!

Rory overtakes and holds off Louis at TPC in Boston.  Tiger comes in third, missed a few opportunities down the stretch.  Still just eclipsed the $100 million career earnings mark.  Not bad for a day’s work.

Going to take a while to get over GT’s tough overtime loss.  Hate it!

Almost SHOWTIME!

Bummer!  Mardy Fish has to pull out of US Open.  No Federer match today.  Hope Fish is OK.  Still never good thing to not get to watch Fed play.  Like Credit Suisse, with Roger Federer all the way!

Looks like great finish in store at TPC Boston.  Rory is closing in on Louis.  Tiger and Dustin Johnson hanging around.

Almost SHOWTIME!  GT vs. Virginia Tech on ESPN at 8:00pm tonight.  GO JACKETS!!!!!

Problem With The Curve

Louis on fire at TPC Boston.  Rory close behind and Tiger on their tail (no pun intended).

In Surviving “Paradise”, the horny, inappropriate cop was more interested in my tail than the criminal Bulgarian neighbors!

WOW! How about Chipper Jones walk off home run in bottom of the ninth against Papelbon and the Phillies to give the Braves a much needed 8-7 win!  He is the Derek Jeter of the South!  Colin Cowherd of Sports Nation has said that twice, after I said it .  I feel like he stole my line!  Go Braves!

Saw an add for a movie coming out September 21, 2012 called Problem With The Curve.  This movie stars Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams.  LOVE Amy Adams.  Cannot wait to see this movie!! Back in touch tomorrow.  Got Roger Federer up on Arthur Ashe Stadium and Georgia Tech vs. Virginia Tech on ESPN at 8:00pm.  GO JACKETS!!

Pop culture tidbit

Well, Alabama looked very impressive last night!  Glad to see Clemson win one for the ACC over Auburn.  USC looked good as well along with FSU but not over the level of competition that Alabama had to deal with.

Izod Indy Series is in Baltimore this afternoon with Will Power once again on the pole.  My Boston friend who is often a spotter for one of the racing teams says of the road course races, “it is not a race, it is a “parade”!  I like the ovals much more myself, way more exciting.  My favorite is Dario Franchetti.  He is not having a stellar year but when you win the Indy 500 (for the third time) it is hard to call it a bad year!

Pop culture tidbit: Saw where Minka Kelly, best know as Friday Night Lights beauty and ex-girlfriend of Derek Jeter, is dating Chris Evans, Captain America.  Well, well, they sure make a gorgeous couple if so.  He has been mentioned to play the role of Christian Grey in movie version of Fifty Shades of Grey.  Rumor has it that Ryan Gosling is the front runner, however.

Hey guys! College Football is here!!

College Football is finally here!  Cannot wait for Georgia Tech vs. Virginia Tech game on Monday night!  Roger Federer won today in his usual magnificent style and Tiger Woods trails Rory by two shots at the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston.  Still want to encourage everyone to check out my book Surviving “Paradise” at Amazon.com.  Visit the webpage www.survivingparadise.info.

Who will win U.S. Open?  Sad to say goodbye to Kim Clisters and Andy Roddick (although Andy is still playing right now).  Kim lost her mixed doubles match so she has officially retired.

I think Roger Federer will win men’s singles title (#6, #18!!) and Serena Williams will win women’s single title.  OK, let’s hear some feedback.
