ABC gets Amanda Knox interview

ABC and Diane Sawyer have won the bidding war to land the first interview with Amanda Knox, the young American who was accused, convicted and then acquitted of the murder of the British student in Italy.  You know, it was a huge and ongoing story that captured the nation for quite awhile.  On April 30th, the day her book, Waiting to Be Heard is released, Amanda will sit down with Diane for a one on one interview which will air in prime time.  She will not be paid for the interview.  Never mind, she will make a fortune from her book (must be nice) and she has already been paid a huge advance.

This story held my interest for quite sometime.  At first, I thought she was perhaps guilty along with her then Italian boyfriend.  Her behavior was a bit bizarre in the aftermath of the horrific events.  But then as the evidence came out, there was absolutely no DNA evidence that placed either of them at the crime scene.  I then began to believe they were in fact innocent; and it had been the awful act of the one individual they had tried and convicted in a separate trial (Rudy Guede).  It seemed the strange Italian prosecutor had in in for her and was determined to paint a picture of her that was simply not true.  Anyway, she is clearly a strong young woman to have survived all that she went through and I expect her book to be a fascinating read,

Ashley Judd – first divorce and now Karl Rove

Ashley Judd just can’t catch a break right now.  First, the sad announcement of the end of her marriage to Indy racing star Dario Franchetti (so hot!!) and now, Karl Rove is on the attack.  There have been rumors that Ashley is mulling over running for the senate from her home state of Kentucky.  We all know how Ashley loves her Kentucky Wildcats!  She would be up against Republican incumbent Mitch McConnell.  Karl Rove has launched an anti-Ashley attack, with the opening round a video entitled “Ashley’s Story”.  He depicts her as a radical Hollywood liberal who has said a bunch of stuff that the people of Kentucky are not going to like.  Well, gee, she hasn’t even decided whether she is going to run for the senate from what I can tell?  My, oh my, it seems like someone is very concerned, or just has too much time on their hands.  Why don’t we wait and see what she decides and then people can express their thoughts and concerns.  Really people.  I would be extremely upset about splitting from Dario, he is such a dashing, Scottish gentleman and my Indy insider has always told me he was the epitome of class!  Still sad to hear about their divorce.

Bama players misbehaving

Four University of Alabama football players are in trouble…I bet St. Nick is not happy!  Eddie Williams, D.J. Pettway, Tyler Hayes and Brent Calloway are the four players who were arrested Monday evening.  Hayes, Pettway and Williams have been charged with second-degree robbery and Calloway has been charged with fraudulent use of a credit/debit card.  Saban has issued a statement which indicates all four players are suspended indefinitely.  Wonder how long that will last?  Moreover, let’s wait and see what punishment is handed down depending on police investigation.  My, oh my, not the best behavior for members of our current National Championship team.

Rock top Jayhawks!

Way to go Kansas!  14 Kansas broke their three game losing streak, defeating rival 10 Kansas State in college hoops last night, 83 – 62.  Ben McLemore led Kansas with 30 points.  Hopefully, head coach Bill Self is feeling a little better today about his team!!  It was a home win, remember what I say, it is so hard to win on the road in college basketball, separates the very good from the great!

Another win for Ben Affleck (BAFTA)

Another win for Ben Affleck and ArgoArgo won Best Picture at the BAFTA awards (British equivalent of Oscar) and Ben won the BAFTA award for Best Director.  He continues on his winning tour of best director awards, making the Academy look more and more foolish for their Oscar snub.  (Argo is nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture, the Academy Awards air Sunday, February 24th).  Other notable winners were Anne Hathaway for Best Supporting Actress, Les Miserables; Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for Lincoln (of course he won, if he is nominated, go ahead and etch his name on the award!); Quentin Tarantino won for Best Original Screenplay for Django Unchained; David O. Russell won for Best Adapted Screenplay, Silver Linings Playbook; and Skyfall, the highest grossing Bond film in history, won Best British Film.

Vick to stay with the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles and Michael Vick have agreed to a one year deal which will pay him $10 million dollars.  He will becomes a free agent at the end of the 2013 season.  Not a bad deal for Vick.  New head coach Chip Kelly apparently wanted to keep him around for this season.
