More NBA drama

Once again we have an example of grown men behaving badly.  In last evening’s game between the Celtics and the Knicks, Melo and Kevin Garnett could not seem to agree on what was proper as far as defending each other.  After the game, Melo was waiting by the Celtics team bus and reportedly an altercation between the two ensued following the game.  This seems so childish!  I personally got a kick out of the tweet sent out by Kobe Bryant depicting Dwight Howard (with his injured shoulder in a sling) and himself “engaging in some fisticuffs” with coach D’Antoni in the middle looking on.  This was a jab at the media reports that indicated he and Dwight had a heated disagreement following the loss to the 76er’s last week.  At least Kobe can keep a sense a humor about all this nonsense.  As I said in a previous post…let’s ask ourselves…What would Kobe do?

Speaking of Kobe and the Lakers, they will limp into tonight’s game against the Houston Rockets missing several starters (Howard and Gasol for sure) with a very thin bench.  We may get to see their 2012 draft pick, Robert Sacre in action.  For those of you have been watching, he has been providing Hollywood type of entertainment on the bench so far this season with his enthusiastic movements in celebration of highlight moments.  If in fact he does get some playing time, will be interesting to see if he responds accordingly while on the court!  The Lakers are really struggling and will face off against the Rockets tonight at 8:00 pm EST.

RG III injury

Following Washington’s loss to Seattle this past weekend, there has been a lot of talk regarding the health of RG III and whether he should have played.  As of right now, the news coming out is that he has a partial tear in both the ACL and the LCL of his right knee (the knee he had previously injured).  He is being examined today by noted specialist Dr. James Andrews to determine the extent of the damage.  No more information has been released at this time.

Also suffering a torn ACL was Chris Clemons of the Seahawks.  He is out and will be sorely missed by Seattle when they take on the Falcons next Sunday.  Not having him available could have a huge affect on the Seahawks’ ability to put pressure on Atlanta QB Matt Ryan.

4th Quarter – Bama will win 3rd title in 4 years

It is in the 4th quarter and I know it is isn’t “over” yet, but Alabama is going to win their 3rd BCS Championship in  4 years!  First of all, congratulations to Alabama and Coach Saban.  What a total and complete domination.  Already over 435 yards total offense.  Score is Alabama 42 – Notre Dame 7.  Nine minutes still to go in the 4th quarter but stick a fork in this game, it is done!  Too much Lacey, Yeldon and McCarron.  Not to mention the Bama defense.

Really disappointed that Notre Dame was not able to make more a game of this.  It is supposed to be the National Championship Game.  It is not supposed to be a tail kicking!  Don’t want to disparage the Irish, but this is a bit of an embarrassment.  Notre Dame scores to make it 42 – 14 but I do not see any real miracle “comeback”.

Don’t want to beat a dead horse, but, I really wanted to see east coast vs. west coast in this game, as I believe many across the county did.  Alas, not to be.  This is what we got.  Sometimes, the “big” game does not live up to the hype.  I eagerly await the final standings. Where will Oregon be?  What about Stanford?  We know Alabama is no.1.  Painful to say, but what about UGA?

Do not forget Ohio State finished 12 -0 under Urban Meyer in his first year.  Can’t wait to see the final rankings!

Final score to follow…6 minutes remaining!

Alabama 42 – Notre Dame14  All hail Bama!  BCS National Champs!

Halftime at the BCS Championship Game…

Halftime from the BCS game in Miami, oh my, what can you say?  Alabama 28 – Notre Dame 0

Where is Oregon?  I gotta say, I wanted to see Oregon vs. Bama in this game.  Why, oh why did Oregon lose to Stanford in OT at home?  (I would even take Stanford vs. Alabama as an alternative at this point?)

OK, let’s deal with this.  Alabama has 309 yards in total offense, Notre Dame has 124.  This game has been completely controlled by Bama at the line of scrimmage.  It is a bit of a dud for those of us who wanted to see a great, competitive game.  Take nothing away from Alabama.   But, what if things had gone differently and Oregon and the “quack attack” vs. the great Bama and the SEC was on display?

I guess I must quit lamenting about this but I am disappointed so far in this game.  At least the weather is nice.  Back in 2010 when I had the pleasure of going to the Orange Bowl when Georgia Tech played Iowa, it was so cold, so cold!  The coldest game in the history of the Orange Bowl.  The National Championship was in beautiful Pasadena, CA that year.  What can you say?  Maybe it is all about timing!

Here’s to hoping for a better second half and Notre Dame making a game out of this!

Game on!

College Football National Championship game is on, Alabama has already scored and is up 7 – 0.  Still it is in the early stages of the first quarter.  So, meanwhile a bit of other news?

UGA junior QB Aaron Murray is going to return for his senior season.  As a Tech fan, I say, OK, whatever.  But really, good for him!!  Also, top recruit in the nation out of Gwinnett County, Georgia, Nkemdiche is only going to visit two schools, LSU and Ole Miss.  Remember, his older brother plays at Ole Miss and “momma” really wants her two boys to play together.  Stay tuned…will be VERY interesting to see where this young man decides to play his college football (he decommitted from Clemson earlier this year!).

OK, let’s watch the GAME….back later

When it rains, it pours!

When it rains, it pours, but usually not in sunny Los Angeles!  Latest news out of LA regarding the Lakers continues to be “not good”.  Dwight Howard is out with a torn labrum in his right shoulder.  Pau Gasol is out indefinitely due to a concussion.  Lakers are in trouble, I admit it and I love LA and the Lakers.  I just hope they can get things together and make to the playoffs!
