Two more upsets at Wimbledon on Friday

Two more upsets at Wimbledon on Friday…#2 Li Na went out in two tie break sets to 20 year old Czech player Strycova and #6 Berdych was ousted in three sets by M. Cilic, 7-6, 6-4, 7-6 (this one finished as darkness descended on the All England Club and Berdych was not happy!).  So #2 on the Ladies side and #6 on the Men’s side bite the dust today.  Very disappointed for Li Na, the 2014 Australian Champ who has now lost in the first round at the French Open and the third round at Wimbledon.  As for Berdych, if he was in the way of Federer, then not too sad to see him out of there!

#1 seed Novak Djokovic won in three sets over G. Simone of France, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.  Scary moment in the third set when Nole went down and appeared to suffer a left shoulder injury.  The trainer and the doctor were out but Nole was able to continue after about a eight minute delay and after the match, he said he had an ultrasound and all was good.  Will remain to be seen…he will have two days rest until manic Monday for the round of sixteen.  He will face J. Tsonga on Monday.  G. Dimitrov won a very entertaining match over Dolgopolov, 6-7, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.  L. Hewitt fell in five sets to Jerzy Jankovic and Andy Murray cruised over Bautista-Agut (talented young Spaniard) 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.  Again, Murray and Federer have looked really good so far, Fed takes the court tomorrow as does Nadal (both on Centre Court but rain is in the forecast).  Both Nadal and Djokovic have struggled just a bid in week one.  The other Swiss guy, Wawrinka advanced today as did K. Anderson over Fognini in five sets.  (Celebrity update: Ricky Gervais was on hand to cheer on Andy Murray, he has tweeted out his support of Murray).

Perhaps the best match of the day took place between two former Wimbledon champs, Venus Williams and P. Kvitova.  Kvitova prevailed in three sets, 5-7, 7-6, 7-5.  Her only break of the match occured in the final set when she broke Venus and then served it out.  This was one of the best women’s tennis matches (especially from a serving standpoint) I have seen in years.  Really sad to see Venus go out but congrats to Kvitova.  Hard to have to see one of these gals “lose” today.  C. Wozniacki seems to be doing really well after her broken engagement and her first round exit in Paris, and she is playing some of her best tennis as she moved on into the round of sixteen today with her win.

Tomorrow’s action will feature Nadal and Federer, Sharapova and Serena Williams.  There is no action on the middle Sunday at Wimbledon and then we move to “Manic Monday”, the round of sixteen.  Here’s to a great second week of tennis in London.

World Cup action gets underway again tomorrow…hard to keep up with the soccer craze and all the Wimbledon action!

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods finished up his two rounds at +7 and missed the cut at the Quicken Loans Tournament…not that surprising since it is his first tournament after back surgery and rehab.  Still, really want to see Tiger back in the mix…not the same without him!

Enjoy your Friday night!

Team USA advances (with loss), Federer and Nadal win

Team USA advanced today into the round of sixteen at the World Cup inspite of a disappointing loss to the powerful team from Germany, 1-0.  Team USA looked tired, Germany looked fresh, but thanks to a goal by Ronaldo, Portugal took care of Ghana 2-1 and Germany wins Group G and USA advances as well.  The support and interest in this World Cup has been phenomenal, all the local bars and restaurants around me were packed as people took long lunches to watch the action and cheer on Team USA.  My sponsor, Padriac’s had one of the very popular local radio stations, 680 The Fan broadcasting on site!  Very cool!!

Would have loved it if we could have at least scored, (nothing like standing with your arms in the air and shouting “SCORE”) but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how you get there, what matters is that you do!!  Way to go Team USA!  No one gave them a shot at moving out of a very tough draw and they did it…USA!  USA!  Next up…likely a match with Belgium.

There was some tennis action today at Wimbledon as well…hard to keep up with it all as most of the focus today has been on Team USA getting it done.  But that guy, Mr. Federer was in action and I always find a way to make time for watching Roger Federer.  He took care of Gilles Muller of Lux (not to be confused with the German soccer player Muller who scored the lone goal in today’s game) in very convincing fashion, 6-3, 7-5, 6-3.  Fed served up 25 aces and looks locked and loaded to make a real run at this year’s Wimbledon title.  Rafael Nadal avenged his 2012 loss to Lukas Rosol, dropping the first set, 4-6, then winning in four sets, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4.  Murray and Federer have both looked very sharp so far early on, Rafa and Djokovic have both struggled a tad.  Non the less, it is all about getting through the early rounds and making it into the second week.  So far, all of the Big Four are into the third round.

J. Tsonga came back to win the fifth set over Sam Querrey today, 14-12, the second five set match for Tsonga.  Really great effort by Querrey, hated to see him go out.  Isner won in three sets, young Nick Kyrgios upset Richard Gasquet in a five set match, coming back after dropping the first two sets..very impressive win.  Nishikori and Roanic advanced as did the other Swiss guy, Stan Wawrinka, who won a four set match today.

Both Sharapova and Serena Williams cruised and could be headed for a quarterfinal meeting (still a ways to go!) and Ana Ivanovic was a two set winner today.  The rains came late in the day but 28 of 33 scheduled matches were completed.  Roger was on Centre Court (thank you, that is where he belongs!) and so the roof was closed midway through the second set and once it became “indoor tennis”, well Fed is still the best in the biz and the aces were plentiful.

Tomorrow, both Murray and Djokovic back in action.

Tiger Woods returned to golf action today at the Quicken Loans National in Bethesda, Maryland and had a bit of a rough go of it.  He looked rusty, to be expected, but he did manage to birdie the final three holes and finished with a round of 74.

So, we take a rest…get ready to cheer on Team USA in the round of sixteen and continue to enjoy the daily tennis from London.

Over and out for now!

P.S. Apparently Mr. Federer was quite excited about the Swiss victory in World Cup action yesterday as he was doing a good bit of “tweeting” last evening!

NBA, Wimbledon and Surviving “Paradise”

Wednesday news…NBA, Wimbledon and of course, Surviving “Paradise” day!  Let’s start with NBA news.  First we have LeBron as a free agent, then Melo, and now Kevin Love will not resign with the Timberwolves.  This is a “no brainer”!  All of them, everyone, go to LA with Kobe and make the Lakers the dream team to end all dream teams!  Make Bryon Scott head coach (he is rumored to be the leading candidate, Kobe likely approves) and what a wonderful world it could be!!  Let’s all go to LA!  I know I want to…anyhow…

Wimbledon action in full swing again today and a couple of “upsets”.  7 David Ferrer goes out in five sets, not a huge upset as grass is not Ferrer’s strong suit.  Victoria Azarenka lost in three sets to a talented young Serbian player but Vika is still working her way back into the swing of things after three months rehabbing her foot injury (in California, no less!).  Andy Murray cruised in three sets, losing a total of two games, Dimitrov won in three sets and will next face Dolgopolov in the third round.  “Dog” won in four sets and served up 42 aces (yes, 42 aces)!  That should be a great third round match.  Djokovic needed four sets to advance, struggling a bit with Stepanek who can be a tricky matchup but he is through and into the third round.  Venus Williams came through today with a two set victory and will face Kvitova (who also advanced) in the third round…two former Wimbledon champs.  Radwanska won easily as did Li Na.  Berdych struggled with Tomic, dropping the first set, winning the second and third set in a tie break and then cruised 6-1 in the fourth set.  Finally, S. Stakhovsky took out E. Gulbis in four sets..why is this significant?  Well, Stakhovsky took out Federer last year at Wimbledon in the second round and Gulbis had the audacity to oust Mr. Federer in the fourth round at this year’s French Open.  So..fortunately, Stakhovsky is not in Roger’s portion of the draw this year.  Tomorrow, Roger and Rafa take the court again.

And last but not least…please check out my book Surviving “Paradise” by Susan Willoch Shaver.  It is a funny and entertaining read…follow a southern woman who relocates to a new town full of great expectations – only to be met by a ridiculous set of people and circumstances.  For more…visit the Home page at this website and the Buy the Book option on the menu bar. (It is available at Amazon.com for $8.99 in paperback and $3.03 in kindle edition!)

Motive on TV tonight…10:00 pm EST, ABC.

I need rest…Later!

P.S. USA faces Germany tomorrow in World Cup action…Group G up for grabs.  Airs at 11:00 am EST on ESPN.  USA!  USA!

Mr. Federer sails through first match at Wimbledon

Mr. Federer sailed through his first match at Wimbledon (on Court 1, not Centre Court, oh, the horror!) with ease, defeating Lorenzi of Italy, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3.  Nice, easy “practice round” type of match to warm up Roger for this year’s Wimbledon quest.  What is the nonsense about age…32 approaching 33 with four children (two sets of twins, one just over a month old)..hey, age is a number!  Just like a fine wine..we all get better with age…(we hope!!)  Anyhow, Roger looked great and ready to rock and roll.  Hopefully, no disturbing early exit this year like last year.  Meanwhile, Rafael Nadal had a bit of an adjustment period, dropping the first set to Klizan of Slovakia (a fellow “lefty”) 4-6.  He then got it together and rolled to a 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 four set win.  Next up for Rafa, non other than that guy named Lukas, Lukas Rosol that is, the one who took him out in 2012!  John Isner of the USA won in three sets, and none of them were tie break sets!  (WHAT?)  Speaking of “old” guys..Rusty (Leyton Hewitt) won in a four set match today as well.  Let’s hear it for old people!! Ha Ha…

Sharapova won going away, 6-0, 6-1, Serena won her match, 6-1, 6-2 and served up sixteen aces, S. Halep looks like she is ready to be a force at the All England Club, winning her match 6-2, 6-2 and E. Bouchard won a tough two set match, 7-5, 7-5.  S. Lisicki opened “Ladies Day” on Centre Court with a two set win as well.  Ana Ivanovic had a tough opening match, facing Schiavone of Italy, but came through 7-6, 6-4.  Postponed from the rain delay yesterday, completed matches today saw Wawrinka advance in three sets, Tsonga completed his five set win over J. Meltzer, and both Radwanska and Wozniacki won going away in two easy sets.

Tomorrow, more of Djokovic and Murray.

In NBA news….LeBron James will opt out of the remaining two years on his five year contract with the Miami Heat and become a free agent.  So…will he stay or will he go?  Gee, I hope this does not mean we are in store for another “Decision”…Decision part deux.  Probably not.  I say go to LA…who would not want to go to LA..the Lakers will welcome him and Kobe is in his last two years…hey, what a world it could be???  Instead of “Mama there goes that man..it could be “Mama there goes those men”!  Oh well, I hear the Bulls are in the mix and who knows…he could end up keeping his talents at South Beach.  All makes for interesting headlines.

Speaking of interesting headlines…how about the “biter”, Saurez at the World Cup.  He bit an Italian player in today’s match and that now makes it “three bites”.  Gee, didn’t his mama teach him better?

OK….enough for now.  Until later!

Almost a win, but a tie and USA still alive!

Team USA was oh, so close yesterday to a win over Portugal, ended up in a bittersweet tie at 2-2 and they are still alive and will face the powerful German team on Thursday.  With under five minutes left, Dempsey did it AGAIN!  He scored and put Team USA up 2-1.  Surely, we were going to win and advance…but not so fast.  Portugal scored to break our hopeful hearts…it was not Ronaldo although he did make the pass…and Team USA will play Germany for the right to advance into the round of 16.  This World Cup action is awesome!!

Wimbledon got underway today and the defending champion, Andy Murray took Center Court to start play (as is the tradition) much to the delight of the British crowd.  He won in three sets and looked very strong.  Also looking very strong, Novak Djokovic (seeded #1, yet Rafa is ranked #1?) who won eleven straight games over Golubev before finally dropping one game.  He prevailed, 6-0, 6-1, 6-4.  Berdych needed four sets, Tsonga is still playing a five set match and it will continue tomorrow along with some other matches because guess what, it began to rain in London!  Fognini won in a contentious five set match, thank heavens that one got completed as it appeared he just might go head to head with the official at one point.  Cooler heads prevailed as did Fognini in the fifth, coming back from two sets down.  Li Na was a two set winner today as was Victoria Azarenka.  Li Na struggled in the first set and Azarenka struggled in the second set.  Both through, however, and really glad to see Vika back and playing well after being out for three months with a foot injury.  In her post match interview, I believe she said we could expect Redfoo to arrive on Saturday (her boyfriend and lead singer of LMFAO).  Also very happy to see Venus Williams win her opening match, a three set victory as Venus is playing in her 17th Wimbledon!

Dimitrov won impressively in three sets and he looks like he could possibly challenge the Big Four?  I don’t know however, only six players have played in the men’s final at Wimbledon in the past decade, the current “Big Four”, Berdych and Andy Roddick.  Nadal won in 2010, Djokovic in 2011, Federer in 2012 (it was glorious) and last year of course, the drought ended for the British as Murray won in 2013,  Speaking of Mr. Federer, he will begin his Wimbledon quest tomorrow on Court 1 (really, not Center Court, he has won seven Wimbledon titles…oh well,) and he will be followed by Maria Sharapova (the tenth anniversary of her 2004 Wimbledon title) and then E. Bouchard of Canada.  On Centre Court, Sabine Lisicki will start the action as she was the runner up last year to M. Bartoli who has since retired.  Then Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams will follow.  Going to be a great two weeks of tennis!  World Cup action continues as well…USA!  USA!

Tonight on TNT at 10:00 pm EST the great new series Murder in the First continues!

Until later…

Messi, USA!, and Wimbledon

My, oh my!  First up, Lionel Messi scores the “beautiful goal” to lift Argentina over Iran in World Cup action with time almost complete!  Then, Team USA faces off against Portugal and an ailing Ronaldo tomorrow (5:30 pm EST on ESPN, be there or be square) in a MUST WIN and finally, Wimbledon (Roger Federer’s best shot at Grand Slam #18?) gets underway on Monday (6/23/14).  What is a sports blogger to do??

First, I have to admit I do not watch soccer.  But this is the World Cup, (kind of like the Olympics, it only happens every four years) and I am increasingly in awe of these athletes.  And, yes I do mean, athletes.  This is on occasion, truly “the beautiful sport” and I see why the Europeans are so obsessed with it and call it their beloved “futbol”.  Now, I love good ole American Football…but this has been something to watch.  The USA winning over Ghana thanks to a head butt goal by Brooks with little time left.  Today, the King, Messi delivering for Argentina with time almost expiring, the “beautiful goal” to lift them to a 1-0 victory over the stubborn and determined team from Iran.  Right now, the talented German team is 0-0 with Ghana at the half.  Tomorrow, no matter what, Team USA wins over Portugal and the other “King”, Ronaldo (wearing a brace on his left knee) and they advance into the round of sixteen.  I love this…win or GO HOME!  USA!  USA!  Never did I think I could get so excited about soccer, but when Messi scored that late goal today, I was screaming and dancing in my den in front of the TV, yes I was!

Now, that other thing I love…or at least that other sports figure I love..Roger Federer!  Mr. Federer and others will begin their quest to conquer the lawns of Wimbledon on Monday, June 23rd and I cannot wait.  This is of course, as the pundits always point out so to speak, Roger’s best shot at Grand Slam #18.  Well, I know he can do it, you know he can do it, and he knows he can do it!!  (There I go with that Witness thing again, I have got to stop watching that movie!)

So, let’s start with the women’s draw, after all it is England and certainly ladies first applies there!  Have to start with the favorite, Serena Williams.  If healthy and on her game, well, game, set and match Serena.  Maria Sharapova, fresh off her second French Open title will be a solid contender but she does not move as well on the grass, and she has not beaten Serena in ten years.  I do not pull for her but she is in the mix.  Li Na should be a threat at #2, Aggie Radwanska at #4 is loveable, but lacks the power.  Newly crowned #3 S. Halep of Romania packs a punch and could well be a contender.  V. Azarenka has returned after her three month rehab of a serious foot injury (yes, that means Redfoo will be in the house) but it remains to be seen how healthy and ready she is.  Others…Bouchard of Canada, Sloane Stephens of the USA…well, we shall see but I have to call Serena Williams the favorite.

Now the boys…Nadal is seeded #1 and Djokovic #2, Murray #3, and Federer #4 with Wawrinka moving back to #5. (So much for the actual ATP rankings)  Have to go with Djokovic of the top two.  Murray, I don’t think so..not based on what I have seen as he struggles to regain his form after minor back surgery (no back surgery is ever “minor”).  Wawrinka could be a surprise but Federer if he plays well, if his “little four” are not too much of a distraction in his world, could be the MAN!  I want this for Roger, I really do.  Please let the stars align and give Roger Federer his 8th Wimbledon and his 18th Grand Slam.  Others lurking…Dimitrov, Raonic with the big serve, Tsonga…but still, I am going to go with my guy, Mr. Federer!

I have some important things going on next week with my own project (Surviving “Paradise”) as well, so I am really hoping the stars align in more ways than one over the course of the next couple of weeks!  GO FED!  Team USA! and well, Me!

update: Ghana and Germany tied at 1-1 in the second period!  Keep you posted!  Oh, Ghana strutting their stuff, 2-1 with 30 minutes left? Stay tuned… Germany scores!  2-2 with just over fifteen minutes left! Final…Germany 2- Ghana 2!  What a game!  So, tomorrow, Team USA needs a win over Portugal to advance!  We’re Americans, we wouldn’t have it any other way!!

Wednesday, and what a wonderful day it would be…

Wednesday here, and what a wonderful day it would be..if…I were in southern California?  Or, if Roger Federer wins Wimbledon for Grand Slam #18, (his best shot perhaps) which gets underway next Monday, June 23rd, or if Team USA can continue their amazing World Cup play and defeat Ronaldo (ailing left knee) and Portugal on Sunday (5:30 pm EST) or perhaps checking out my book Surviving “Paradise” by Susan Willoch Shaver for a fun and entertaining read to take you mind off the heat and humiditymeatIndianWells1 in many parts of the country??  All sound pretty great to me!!

Then again, I have been watching the great movie Witness with Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis one too many times perhaps..but how can you not LOVE this movie?  The great scene in the barn when they are in his car and the oldie but goldie comes on…”Don’t know much about history, don’t know much biology, but I do know that I love you, and I know that if you loved me too…what a wonderful world it would be”…so you can see I have been watching this movie a lot!!  Anyhow…

It is Wednesday and that is Surviving “Paradise” the book day.  Follow a southern woman who relocates to a new town full of great expectations – only to be met by a ridiculous set of people and circumstances.  Check out the Home page at this website for more info and also the Buy the Book option on the menu bar.Surviving Paradise

Now, someone I know is going to LA next week, and well, let’s just say we shall see.  More to come hopefully on that later!!

Meanwhile, Motive airs on ABC tonight at 10:00 pm EST.  Great show, be there or be square.

Happy Hump Day!

USA 2- Ghana 1 in World Cup!

cropped-ss_gt_photo.pngWOW!  USA over Ghana 2-1 in their World Cup debut yesterday.  Who know I could get so into this World Cup action, ie. the “beautiful game”!  In Europe, this is football.  As all of us in the USA know, this is soccer, we have this other thing we call “Football”!  But if you were not yelling and cheering yesterday, late afternoon and early evening, why not? (ask yourself!)  It was so compelling, Dempsey scoring the first US goal in a mere 31 seconds into the game, then late, Ghana tying things up.  And then…that side kick and the head butt goal by Brooks (the new face of US soccer?), and then the WIN!!  Only downside, the injury to Jozy Altidore (strained left hamstring) and we will unfortunately have to wait and see as to the real extent of his injury.  Could be a big loss for Team USA if he is out.

But, I have to say watching this was exciting and exhilarating!  Fist pumping, dancing, yelling…who knew??  I even cheered today when Belgium scored the go ahead goal to defeat Nigeria, 2-1.  In action now, Brazil and Mexico, later Russia vs. South Korea.  There are of course the powerhouse teams, Spain, Argentina, Portugal (very disappointing loss yesterday to Germany) and even Brazil.  Team USA has not been given much of a chance but after yesterday and the loss by Portugal, who knows?  They may even advance out of their group.  It is different when you are not a “true” fan of soccer, but something about watching team USA brings it out…USA! USA!  Kind of getting into this…

Footnote:  Yesterday I noted that Kobe Bryant had to smile at least a little when the Miami Heat failed to “three peat”.  Well, he is smiling in Brazil where he is on hand to watch the World Cup action.  It is his second World Cup in a row.  When you love sports…you love sports!

Happy Tuesday!

San Antonio Spurs..2014 NBA Champions!

The San Antonio Spurs are the 2014 NBA Champions (for the fifth time in fifteen years)!  Congrats to the Spurs…they are the epitome of a “team”, with class and humility, not to mention tremendous talent.  They suffered a horrible blow last year in the finals against the Miami Heat when they lost a heartbreaking game six in Miami that they should have won and ended up losing the 2013 finals in seven.  Not this year!  They defeated Miami last night in San Antonio, 104-87.  It was never really close.  All of the Spurs victories in this series have been by at least fifteen points, really demolishing the defending champion Heat.  No three peat for the Heat, and I am glad.  (I bet Kobe Bryant is smiling in LA as well!)  The Spurs took this series 4-1 and got to celebrate in front of their boisterous and adoring home crowd.  Bill Russell was on hand as was former Spur great David Robinson.  Timmy (Tim Duncan), what more can you say, Virgin Islands to Duke standout to seventeen years with the Spurs under Coach Gregg Popovich.  Then Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, their version of the big three.  Ginobili had fourteen points off the bench in the first half.  Tony Parker was 0-7 in the first half but poured it on in the second, at one point making six straight shots.  And then Kawhi Leonard, 22 years old and the finals MVP!  Did I call it or what?  Leonard scored 15 first half points but had to spend a good portion of the second half on the bench due to foul trouble.  No problem for the Spurs..they are a team with a very strong bench to compliment their outstanding starting five.  The Heat raced to a huge lead early, and then in the blink of an eye, the Spurs had made a run and it was a 24 point turnaround.  The Heat would never again really threaten.  LeBron did his part, scoring 30+ points but he had no real significant help from his teammates.  Again, “team”!  Wade had a poor night and when all was said and done…the Spurs were celebrating, hoisting the trophy, while confetti poured down in the AT&T arena and the crowd cheered like they never wanted to leave.

So happy for the Spurs.  Now, if the Lakers can just somehow get it together next year in the Western Conference, between the Spurs, the Clippers and OKC, what an interesting year 2015 could be.  For now…it is all about the San Antonio Spurs!!

Tonight, check out a great new show on TNT, Murder in the First starring Taye Diggs.  It is the second episode of this interesting new detective drama and I am hooked!

Meanwhile, I am resting from the tennis this past weekend (congrats to Mr. Federer on #7 at Halle!) and await Wimbledon which gets underway June 23rd.

Happy Monday one and all!

Federer wins title at Halle, his 7th!!

Roger Federer won his 7th Gerry Weber Open title on the grass courts in Halle, Germany, prevailing over a very determined A. Falle, 7-6, 7-6.  Falle is the first Colombian player to reach a final of a grass court event.  Congrats to him, but ROGER THAT!!  Federer won his 14th grass court title and hopefully, he will rest, spend time with the family, practice and be ready for Wimbledon.  I really want Fed to win another Grand Slam title and Wimbledon is generally regarded as his best shot.  But when it comes to Federer, you never know when the magic can happen!

Oops, forgot to mention that Federer and his partner Marco Chuiudirelli of Switzerland were also in the doubles final in Halle, losing in a three set match, 10-12 in the third.

Tie break matches seemes to be the theme of the day as G. Dimitrov defeated F. Lopez (very handsome!, but hey, Dimitrov is a nice looking fellow as well) in three tie break sets, 6-7, 7-6. 7-6 in the Aegon Tournament in England (another grass court tune up event prior to Wimbledon).  Grigor is definitely on the move and his girlfriend Maria Sharapova was there to cheer him on.  In the women’s Aegon tournament, Ana Ivanovic won her first grass court title in two sets in Birmingham, England.  Ana looks ready to make a serious run at Wimbledon.  Victoria Azarenka will return to action next week in yet another grass court tournament prior to Wimbledon after being out three months with a serious foot injury.  Hope all the ladies are healthy and ready to go at it on June 23rd when Wimbledon gets underway.

The final round of the US Open Golf Championship is well under way and it is still the Martin Kaymer show at this point.  He is atop the leaderboard at -9 playing along side Rickie Fowler, currently in second with Erik Compton at -3.  Kaymer looking to “seal the deal”!  Still, something about no Tiger Woods takes away from the aura of it all a bit for me.   Adam Scott at +2, Jordan Spieth at +2, Rory Mcilroy at +5 (?) and Mickelson at +7 (oh, my?).

Tonight, will we perhaps crown the 2014 NBA Champions?  The San Antonio Spurs host the defending champions the Miami Heat in San Antonio.  The Spurs have a nice 3-1 lead in the series and a win tonight at home will get it done.  GO SPURS!

Happy Fathers Day to all the “Dads” out there!

Update: Compton now at -4, Kaymer still at -9.  Fowler falling off a bit!

Congratulations to Martin Kaymer, the first German player to ever win the US Open Golf Championship.  Kaymer finished at -9, Rickie Fowler and Erik Compton tied for second at -1.

OK, let’s watch some basketball!
